Day 1

Recommended Posts

My lad left for you know where today.

I was in M&S at the time I knew he was flying out and I started to well up and tears ran down my face, silly old me. A lovely old lady asked me if I was OK and I ended up sitting on the seats telling her all about it, she was lovely and told me about when her Archie left way back in the 40's and he did come back. She was like a breath of fresh air.

I know my boy will be fine, but positive vibes from my fellow Omeleteers would be brilliant.

Sending you and your son as many positive thoughts as its possible to send (and all the other people serving in the armed forces and their families)

You must be so proud now your son is officially a hero, I have nothing but complete admiration for people with the courage, strength and conviction to serve the country to keep the rest of us safe.

Well done to him

I am totally overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers, the sentiments you have voiced are amazing. I think this is going to be a very teary thread. :(

But I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It really does mean so much that you have taken the time to add something. Day 2 begins for him and me. I know in my heart that he will be just fine, we are that sort of family! He is going to hardly have any time to fret it is me that will scan the news for a glimpse of him or jump when the door bell rings at the 'wrong' time but I do know he WILL be fine. There are thousands of our brave troops out there, lets hope they all come home safe.

I am honored that your son is out there doing something so brave for the sake of others. It is very humbling. My thoughts are with you, your son and all of the others serving out there. Do they get support from the UK in terms of packages and letters? If so maybe we could get involved in sending things out for them.
