It was a shock * UPDATE *

Recommended Posts

and the lympth nodes were all clear so all good news. The

only concern was the cancer was a grade 3 which is the most aggresive.

Now I have to go and see the Oncologist to discus what my next treatment

will be, definately will need radiotheraphy and because its a grade 3 will also

need chemotherapy which was never mentioned before the op.

I can understand the shock - when I was diagnosed with it, I was (as far as I knew) in the best of health. The treatment of breast cancer has come on a lot since I had a lumpectomy in about 1991 (followed by radiotherapy). Today, I have just realised, is the 18th anniversary of my surgery. The fact that your lymph nodes are clear is a big, big, big plus. Ask the oncologist why they are talking about chemotherapy, given that the cancer had not spread to your lymph nodes.

During the radiotherapy, I took a Chinese medicine to counter the drying effects of the treatment, and it really did make an enormous difference.

So all in all not a good couple of months, infact not a good year so far,OH lost his job so did my son. Brother in law has bowel cancer elderly neighbour has

skin cancer and a friend has throat cancer.

Sometimes I find it comforting to remind myself: this, too, will pass; this, too, will pass.

Good luck.

What a shock for you, but you sound very positive and the news sounds good - best wishes for a speedy recovery to full health, with whatever treatment you need. These things always come in battalions, don't they - but here's hoping this is the start of an upturn in everything for you.

Thank goodness for screening. I'm not quite at the age where I get a free mammogram, but I had a lump a couple of years ago which I got checked out and it was a blocked lymph node. It's a timely reminder to all of us to do regular checks, and take up those screening appointments.

I do hope things pick up for you and your family and friends. Do let us know how you're getting on.

How awful, I cannot comprehend what you are going through now. Sending lots of positive & healing vibes your way. Just to add my 37 year old friend has been fighting breast cancer for a year now (her mother had it before her) and she has won! No more treatment for her. :)

Wishing you well with your treatment. xxx

Really sorry to hear about all of this, Joybelle. We have cancer in our family at the moment too and it is such a shock. I'm glad they are saying that it is very treatable. My FIL gets news about the exact nature and treatment for his cancer today. I am praying for him and will pray for your too. Take care of yourself and accept any help that is offered - consider it your gift to them to let them help - whoever they are xxx

Oh sorry to hear the news - but wishing you well and sending lots of hugs.

My first mammogram found an "irregularity" so I had to go back again, and again - by that time Igot really angry with it (not the hospital - they are brilliant) and had decided that they could chop the whole thing off and have done with it. Fortunately it turned out to be something with a wierd name that I can't remember, but benign nonetheless.

My dad had stomach cancer - twice. He was expected to live only months. He managed 18 extra years (death not due to any cancer either) and was declared free of it, so anything is possible. Positive thoughts always.3.gif
