I have been home today and had to put the heating on at about 1pm as its was sooo cold, first time its been on it the day this year.

We moved house 3 weeks ago to a house with a very old (expensive) boiler so we haven't had the heating on much. Today it was really sunny and the family room is south facing so was lovely and warm. We have a gas fire I put on for the children to get dressed in front of in the morning and evening. Hopefully we will get a new boiler fitted in the next few weeks and we can be a little less frugal.

Still no heating here, just redundant radiators although I don't think it'll be too much longer!

I was so cold the other night that I didn't sleep very well, so yesterday I turned the heating on a bit earlier and that seems to have done the trick, a comfy night. Otherwise it goes off during the day. Still, it has been later this year - have had to turn it on occasionally in August before and usually in September - OH doesn't like it turned on until October - this time he said to me "can I turn the heating on?" and I said no - I was hot, so off he sulked and got his jumper - usually the other way around!

Still resisting the urge to turn on the heating, but the fire has been roaring for the past few nights. Lit it at 4pm yesterday

It's been on a couple of times with all the doors and windows open - it's a hot air system, so have to fire it up to get all the dust etc out the vents before can be used for real!!

 

So we are ready to go - but resisting so far!

Well, was aiming for November, but have cracked tonight, my hands were so cold I couldn't help YS with his buttons and he screamed every time I came into contact with his skin as I helped him get ready for bed! Have been piling on the clothes for the past couple of weeks but I draw the line at wearing gloves inside!

 

Well since I posted this I can truthfully say that heating has not been on again, so am doing really well, stove is running every night which keeps living room nice and toasty and then just make a run for it when it's bed time and dive under my winter quilt! Sounds awful outside tonight though, wind and rain.

 

I wonder if you're like your avatar and constantly on the move and thats why you don't need the heating on?

Still holding out here although we do put the fires on in the lounge & dining room, DH and DD are moaning and want the heating on whereas DS and myself having got to November without heating are now aiming for December

 

DD is trying to convince me that the reason we all seem to have coughs & colds at the moment is because the house is too cold To be honest I'm shocked that I have a cold as I don't do colds or get ill as a rule

 

The only reason I have considered having the heating on is to get the washing dry quicker

Tell her that you dont get a cold from being cold, nor flu from going up a chimney, nor chicken pox from collecting eggs

We haven't even been tempted to put the heating on yet. We light the woodburner at dusk every night, so it lovely and toasty in the lounge. The children have to come downstairs or go to bed early with their Beddy Bears if they want to be warm

 

YD is off school today with achy muscles and the snuffles, she was trembling last night but wasn't cold or running a temperature, very odd I will probably light the fire soon to give her a warm spot to sit. She has her 11+ on saturday so I hope this isn't anything sinister.

A friend was saying yesterday that her daughter is the same: achy, wobbly, no energy, no temp, no sickness.......but has 10 mins or so of normal activity, then flops again......most odd

Goodness knows what meaning they have down in your neck of the woods then

 

I'm very pleased because the 'bulk gas' man has just called in to check our gass and top up the tank - we still had 70% in the tank We have had it topped up as the weahter is becoming colder and the gas prices are due to go up next week.

Still only got the bathroom radiator coming on to warm up the towels.

We turned it on briefly, and were stifled, so turned it off again just as quickly. Still lighting fires in the evening.

 

I like an icy bedroom..... I sleep better.

Have put it on for an hour when we got in the last couple of nights as been so cold but that is all.

 

Oh, and had it on for a bit on Sunday as had visitors over... But still not back on the timer yet or anything.

 

(And we have no fires etc to light...)

 

I will get the winter duvet out at the weekend though!

we had the gas fire on for a few days but was freezing beginning of week so its been on low all day for 2 days back to morn and even now. No other heating apart from gas fire and kids here all day so need it livable, anyway spent too many years at home freezing (tight mother and stupid hot air heating) so like to be warmish though not too hot.

We gave in on Monday evening. i have been working full time this week so there has been no one at home and it was like a fridge when we got home

Well, I've just put some of the radiators on. The house is like a fridge, my feet are freezing even with my sheepskin slippers on and I am not wearing gloves inside!

Have to admit it. We've had to put on the heating this week...We keep having mist and fog, so it gets cold.
