Sam Palmer
We've splashed out on a Lego Pirates advent calendar this year. Pirates are big in our house, youngest son had been nagging for days for me to go on the Lego website and buy one, but I said it was too late. He was so pleased to see the box on the kitchen table yesterday morning. I'd bought it ages ago!

Cooks
oooh oooh oooh I have a handmade one made for me by my Christmas crafty swaper it has sweets and chickens in!
Valkyrie
Gave DS an ordinary Cadbury's one - he was so pleased (yes really - he loves his choccy caledars) and DD had a High School Musical one, and she is delighted with hers although she is rather miffed that the little doors don't have any pictures inside, and apparently the chocolate tastes like cheap chocolate, but the pictures on the front make up for it. Personally I want Cookies chicks.
dippy bird
I got my 16 year old son a Toy Story one and my 14 year old step son a Winnie the Poo one. I don't think they really minded them being childish just as long as there was chocolate in them.
ClaireG
Adam had a Simpsons one with chocolate in.
Sunshine
I have a fabric one that still isn't made! I got it in August and thought it would be really easy to sew together so didn't start it until last week, however its not so i do all the pressing etc and mum is doing the sewing. When its finished I have those red yummy Lindt chocolates to go in the pockets.

Christian
Cadbury's dairy milk for me. OH was when I bought it, so won't be getting any chocolates
Seagazer
DD has a cadbury's one and the two boys have Mars calendars. I haven't got my handmade cloth advent down. I normally squash 3 sweets in each pocket but with DD away not sure I'll bother this year again. Each year OH and I say we're going to have one as well but we never do. craftyhunnypie
We each have a cheapo 59p one from Lidl. Mainly as I can't have too much choccy, so can't splurge out on a Thorntons / Lindt one. It's actually nice chocolate though & yes we are big kids at heart! Emma.x
Busybird
OH was tasked with getting the kids advent calendars this year. DD told him to go to Thorntons but he decided Wilkinsons had better offers and came home with two 'Ben 10' and one 'High School Musical'. The kids were so not impressed that he told them they could do without next year They have still come down eager to open a door each morning though. I forgot to light the advent candle last night at dinner Too busy thinking about putting up the decorations...
PurpleTree
Danny's got a Star Wars: Clone Wars one and Oliver's got an In The Night Garden one. I've got one that's a stable scene and you add a character/animal each day. On my birthday I get to add a chicken which I thought was quite a coincidence
poachedegg
We have a felt snowman one with a little pocket for each day - each having a quality street in.......we use the pop dice from Frustration and whoever gets the highest number gets the chocolate......it certainly livens up breakfast! chickric
I've got a Transformers one
bluekarin
We have a Playmobil Christmassy one. It has a wintry town square set and the boxes have a different Playmobil item in them (person, birds, bench, Santa etc etc finally with a music box) so they add to the scene each day. This year though, as they said we really want a chocolate one, I wrapped up little pieces of chocolate in foil and popped a piece in each box. It was a nice surprise for them. I also, after previous years squabbles, made them draw straws as to who went 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Cinnamon
I got a top gear one Is it the one from M&S with the 'some say.......' Stig facts Fred? Thats the one Devon has Must say that I am amazed how many adults out there have them. I haven't had one for years & years.........not since I left home, although the animals always get one,as well as the children. Not the chickens of course. Can you imagine them all squabbling over 1 mealworm a day?
chickencam
I always loved advent calenders, even just with glittery pictures. We bought one for our 3 to share this year thinking that they were too old now. DS took objection and went out and bought himself some giant chocolate buttons to have one each day of because they had run out of calenders. We used to have hanging ones with pockets for each of them and we used to fill the pockets with little gifts or chocolate they were fun but hard work to find things the right size that weren't just chocs. theherd123
We have a felt one with pockets in and move a little felt star into the correct pocket each day. Would love to get a chocolate one for Isabelle but she's a bit young yet
henriette
I am really envious. We haven't got one. Well, there is the children's old one in the loft that I made years ago from hessian and felt, but I don't think we could really get it out. It is theirs, afterall. Oh well, will continue to enjoy reading about all yours. They sound great fun.
Ain't Nobody Here
I bought 2 Simpsons chocolate ones for my boys from Sainsburys. The chocolates are all melted and yucky looking . Looks like they've been stored at too high a temperature while standing on end and all the chocolate has melted then reset. I'm taking them back shortly .
