Snow

Recommended Posts

We havent been gritted here so it will be snowed in for us if it keeps snowing

Last time that happened I phoned work and they said 'do you want to work from home?'

I said 'not blooming likely! I will take a days holiday and go play in the snow!'

I doubt they expected that from a 31 year old

You are not alone - there's lots of big kids out there enjoying the weather. We might not see it again for another 30 odd years and we'll be out there with our zimmer frames if we haven't kicked the bucket! Although 4 times in one year and I am cheesed off. Although I think I should do my snow angel (it was a friend from Solihull that had to explain what they were - never been able to do any until recent years).

I thought of you earlier Paola - the BBC were filming in Stratfield Turgis (not quite the same) and showed some Reading snow and Basingstoke snow. And it's still falling heavily. Should be able to take some great pics tomorrow. That's if it stops before it reaches the top of the windows! Betcha glad you're in the sun! :D

We had snow thoughout Monday night - about 8 inches. School was shut today and is also shut tomorrow (Wed). Had more snow this afternoon and early evening- now about 10 inches!!!. Although we are Greater Manchester/ Cheshire border we are right on the Pennines so most roads are awful due to the hilly nature of the terrain.

Part of our back garden today (I have never seen this much snow in my lifetime! Others have I guess.)

I've found out that the buses are running today, so I'm off to work soon.

I'd be brave & drive as the main roads are good-ish, but I park in a side-street & could see me getting stranded there tonight.

Everybody have a good, safe day :D

I know I would say it, but I don't think its fair to ask staff to go in with the no children, they shut it for the kids for a reason

One of our teachers took a sleeping bag to school yesterday in case he couldn't get home!

Just woken up to about a foot of snow, and its still coming down

Its just getting light now & it all looks spectacular 8)

Hubby has some hair brained idea about going to work (he is a builder & has a van),but we girls are treating this as a snow day :P

Luckily I have enough supplies in the house to see us through a good few days :)

How is it where you are?

A light dusting of snow overnight. Now the sky is dropping polystrene type hail/snow.

It is still dark here but as soon as it gets light I shall walk up the lane to see what state the road is in before I decide whether to go to work or not.

it started about 1am here. I looked out the window before bed, went and cleaned my teeth, came back and looked out again and everything was covered! The boss has declared a snow day! So no work today, but if we get no more snow he expects everynoe to make reasonable effort to get in tomorrow, euen if it means in late and leavin early for buses!

Lots of snow here. Decided yesterday ES wasn't going into school as it's the next town. YS came back from school saying it would be on the local radio if they were closed so klistened to the list and his school wasn't on it (not altogether a surprise as most children and teachers are walking distance). Blimey did he grumble  did a quick check on their web site after breakfast just in case  and they are closed. He did apologise
