Lesley
Sorry - I meant to say thank-you to everyone for posting, I was a bit distracted...........your children are never too old for you to stop worrying about them are they........ Em - I have got a Wii Fit.....but I still haven't put the batteries in yet We might get time today to have a look at it togther and see if we can find something Lauren can do - she's not even allowed to do the 100 pin bowling off the resort thing at the moment She has a physio appt. this morning - her physio will be coming here. My daughter has asked me to have a quiet word about Lauren's weight so I'll see what she has to say.

Lesley
Thank you all....... I didn't take the advice on breaking a matchstick..........and today my son badly dislocated both his thumbs He was pushing a piece of wood off a pallet. His problems are usually his ankles and hips so it was unexpected. He's self-employed and can't afford to be incapacitated.......he's in a lot of pain but didn't want to go to A&E. Carl's foot has a fist sized bruise on the top across his toes..... I think I'll become a German - and go a fling a few towels over the chairs in Warwick A&E.........do you think they'll do a discount for bulk? Lesley
Lauren managed a whole week at school last week.....but she won't be at school tomorrow ........she's at Warwick A&E again. She went to have a shower at 8pm and called down because the shower door was falling off - Daddy went and put it back together and she carried on, wandered downstairs, wandered back up to get ready for bed and only then noticed that her thumb was dislocated and her wrist didn't work properly. They gradually worked out that her ankle gave way and that is how the shower door fell off.....and must be when she dislocated her thumb it is her right hand and she is right handed A&E is really busy so she probably won't be back until late - school starts at 8am so she probably won't make it. Last week my daughter was told that Lauren probably wouldn't be statemented because she doesn't have one permanent problem but a series of ongoing problems - I don't know much about statementing and I know others on here have been through this.......does anyone have any advice? Also, Lauren desperately wants to go on the school trip to Paris - it will involve a lot of walking and she'd probably need to hire a wheelchair................daughter is still waiting for someone to call back and discuss the trip...................any advice on how schools could/do approach trips? Lesley
She's still in hospital at the moment. At 1am they decided they couldn't try again to put her thumb back and it was swelling too much so they've kept her in and may operate 'first thing' - we're still waiting to hear. I haven't got a car today either - my daughter doesn't drive, I'd normally just pop over and take her to the hospital.

ClaireG
Oh crickey, poor Lauren Re Statementing and the school trip, these people are very good for advice. http://www.continyou.org.uk/children_and_families/parent_partnership_services/warwickshire_parent_partnership_service/
Lesley
Thanks Claire - I'll have a look at that. Lauren was allowed home at midday - no operation and no plaster cast. She had to wait for a trauma plaster technician but he wouldn't put a cast on because of the swelling. The thumb is still not in place but they are hoping that the metal splint will rest it and allow the joint to go back on its own.
