Diagnosis at last!!

Recommended Posts

Thanks all..........she's just on her way home.....with another plaster cast on. They can't tell whether she has fractured that wrist as well so it is in a cast and tomorrow they will check both instead of just the one the appt. was for.

We do think it's about time we had our own lounge and seats with brass plaques

They do keep Lauren's notes in A&E, 12 months worth at a time. Usually, notes are archived every month. The main problem then is insisting that whoever is senior at the time actually looks at the notes! We couldn't believe that they still keep only paper records  - it's not computerised

Lauren says thank you for all the good wishes........she's just had a read of this.

Here she is smiling again - she certainly wasn't when she left......and that's a first as she doesn't always feel pain in the way most of us do........ and the X-ray showed that the thumb is still dislocated :? .........she has an appt. tomorrow afternoon for that.....

We don't know Sha - and Lauren doesn't always know. Sometimes her ankles or knees just give. She had her EEG last week to check for Epilepsy although that isn't suspected.

You're right Helly - and no doubt they will be decorated by tomorrow :lol: The plaster technician covered up the one she had done on Friday.

Well, you know the saying....."If you don't laugh, you'll cry":D

I thought I'd better post photos - it was beginning to sound like I/we have Munchausens by proxy :?

On Friday and yesterday we were asked quite a few times which school Lauren was at - we're obviously being monitored whilst we're at the hospital to see how we all interact, which is good. We're very surprised that we haven't had home visits. Having the diagnosis on her notes helps now I suppose.

Lovely photo of a plucky young girl. It is good that you can keep a good humour through all this. It must be really tough on all of you. You have said in the past that she has self estem issues, she has every reason to be really proud of herself, she is very pretty and very brave.

She is brave and gorgeous......and nearly always smiling :D

....and look what my fantastic granddaughter has done for me now.......

Purpleplaster.jpg

She had a choice of red, orange or purple plaster.....the first time she's been allowed the coloured ones.....and she chose PURPLE!!!....so that she matched my clothes! :D (anyone would think I liked purple :lol: )

The other wrist is fractured and her thumb is still dislocated. She's not allowed to go back to school and her physio was very concerned about what it happening and is contacting the paediatric Consultant in Nuneaton to chase up the results of the epilepsy tests as a matter of urgency. She certainly doesn't have major fits but it could be a momentary blackout that's causing her to fall. The physio has also been back on to the Inclusion Team (?? don't ask me!) and home tutoring is being looked at. The OT phoned and will make a home call. Lauren needs help with dressing most of the time as she can't do up buttons even without her hands being in plaster but at the moment she also needs help to go to the bathroom - hence no school.

Lauren has had lots of blood pressure tests, usually when she's been admitted to a ward for a while, and they have always been normal but am I right in thinking that there are tests where they check what happens to a persons blood pressure when they've been lying down and stand up suddenly? - what is that called?

Loving the purple plaster casts, although it would be better if poor Lauren didn't have to have them.

The Inclusion Team are part of the LEA, that basically make sure education etc is available for all and that no one is excluded in anyway.

Adam was under the pead physios and OT's at Warwick when we lived over that way and they were fantastic :D Itwas also their assesment that really helped Adam get his statement.

Oh I love the purple casts and a pink top to match too - making her nanna very happy!:lol:

As for home tutoring - the school I work for is a specialist in this area so if you or Vicky want to give me a call you have my number. Basic legal entitlement is for 5 hours a week but dependant upon diagnosis and how long Lauren will not be able to attend school for this may vary.
