Cranfield Kate
just came back from the vets where we had to have three of our family put down - our ex bat, Peeper, and our two mice, Ethel and Gretel. peeper just never thrived and went into a bit of decline just before christmas so she lived in our kitchen for the last week, and the two mice got ill on christmas day and we'd been hand feeding them to try and perk them up. it didn't work. so we went in with three boxes and came out with none. and I feel terrible and knew that you, being such nice people, would understand that they weren't just a chicken and a couple of mice but they were family. very glum now. Patricia W
So very sorry. I hate that bit about going to the vet - but you did the right thing. At least they all had a good life till the end and not all animals get that. Tricia

That's the problem with pets - they do become part of our families. Best wishes for a happier New Year.

Cranfield Kate
i feel really pathetic as i keep bursting in to tears! must be the weather or something.... To cheer myself up I re-arranged the other chooks' pen and moved it around and put new bark chippings in there. they seem to like the new arrangements so they've brought a smile to my face. I keep picking the cat up to give it a cuddle but that requires removing it from its heated cat tent so he's not wildly impressed. but i can recommend spoiling the remaining pets as therapy. dancing cloud
It's not pathetic at all, it just shows you loved them! It's no real consolation, but yesterday I took one look at the "special" grapes I still had in the fridge for Moon-hen (who died on Saturday) and snivelled all the way to work. I still miss the way she ran down the cube ladder straight to me every morning and her very silly squeaky-dog-toy voice that used to greet me when I got home . Time to take a leaf out of your book and move on - give the grapes to the other seven eager-beaks and open a tin of tuna for the greedy cats (and maybe still cry just a little bit!) ...
