Old Speckled Hen
Where do you get yours from? I often get fat balls from Poundstretcher but the rest I get online. I have just spent a mindboggling £83 Anybody got a cheap online source?
Space Chick
http://www.wildbirdfood.uk.com/acatalog/Bird_Section.html Here you go OSH. This is also where I get my dried mealworms for the girls. Typical though I have run out of wildbird food so they are getting some of the girls mealworms and mixed corn at the moment.
kerryegg
Funnily enough I have just been searching for on line supplies but the delivery cost is very high. Any ideas of good supplier with reasonable charges. Thanks.

Not that I have found I have some out of date Omega 3 seeds (for adding to bread), from Julian Graves, do you reckon they wild birds will be OK with those? Just adding aswell, that Mr Robin, my resident Robin is loving the mealworms
Groovychook
I was just wondering if it's ok to give wild birds layers pellets made into porridge? I know it's not designed for them but do you think it would do them any harm as a one off? I was just making some for the girls and it seems a shame to leave the wild birds out when they're so hungry...

Egluntyne
I always have to make sure anything I give to the wild birds is placed high up, preferrably dangling on a string, otherwise I find that it attracts rats. Have just been inspired by this thread to make some fatballs for the garden birds and some of Redwing's home made pecking blocks for the hen's whilst I was in the mood. I have given out of date Julian Graves seeds to the hens before now, and they have gone mad for them. Am wishing I had some in stock at the mo. Brian
The place i get my chicken feed from also does all sorts of other stuff - liked rolled oats and mixed grain - both in 20kg sacks. I read that the chickens like rolled oats so bought a sack of that and also the mixed grain - both approx £10 for a 20kg sack. I compared the mixed grain with the wild bird feed i buy from the garden centre at extortionate prices and guess what - its the same stuff - so its shared to the wild birds as well. docsquid
I get mine from CJ Birdfood. They have always been excellent. I get their high energy mix in 20kg sacks, as well as their fat tubes for starlings and peanuts. They have always been excellent quality and very reliable. Busybird
We put nuts and sunflower hearts in large feeders hung from a bird table for the wild birds. We buy them from Wilkinsons on the high street. They are going through huge quantities with the cold weather but I love to watch them in the garden. Valkyrie
I use CJ's too. Very good company - and an interesting forum on their website.

dancing cloud
I get mine from wigglywigglers, along with bits for the worm bin, socks for me etc but the link provided by Spacechick looks like good food too (and with no extras to tempt the weak-willed like me!) FORENSICA
I bought a big bag of mixed corn at our local Pets at Home for chooks and the wild birds eat it too. It was £9.99 and I reckon it will take about 2 years for the birds and two of my girls to eat it (as a treat).
Wolfie
Why didn't we pick up a bag of mixed corn for the birdies when we were in Pets at Home at lunchtime? We did buy 10 packets of lard for the Starlings - cashier in Sainsbury's looked gone out at us ...
patsylabrador
There's a place in sussex, near Horsham - Bearsden Pet Supplies - which is very good value for all sorts of stuff. Plus, it has a funny little dog that likes standing on the shelves or in the queue.
