Worlds Gone Mad

Recommended Posts

I just popped in to my local supermarket for some cat litter, I have been working away and hubby doesnt drive and was working nights so couldnt get it in the week so we really needed it

There is none in stock at my local petrol stations

Arrived at the supermarket and the car park was full with a queue

Parked up the road and walked back to the supermarket

Got the cat litter and a few odds and ends walking past empty bread shelves (that should have been my warning)

Queue for the till?

ONE HOUR

Madness :wall:

Gosh I reckon I could live out of my freezer and cupboards for a few weeks if push came to shove

Ditto.

I did a fairly big shop yesterday, as we were running low on loo rolls, Weetabix and a few other essentials, but tbh it wasn't too bad. There was no bread to speak of though. My lot will have to make do with my lovely home-made bread as opposed to that awful claggy Warburton's stuff that they seem to prefer.

The car park was dreadful. Like a skating rink. There was a chap sprinkling salt from a wheelbarrow with a tea cup. Soooo glad I bought some Yaktrax.

We called in at the Co-op as we needed milk and fruit - it was busy but everyone was behaving, spaces in the small car park and it took us about 2 minutes in the queue.

Carl still wants a house cow though

My Yaktrax were brilliant across the icy car park and easy to take off in store - I held on tight to them though - you can't get Yaktrax for love or money now!

We can't get out except on foot and a mile in a blizzard to find no milk in the shop is no fun. Please stop tormenting me with Morrisons, Waitrose, Tesco etc etc

I'd never heard of Yaktrax - googled them; would you recommend them then? If so, would they fit over wellies do you think?

Yaktrax are going for $30 odd quid on ebay!!! I should have bought some ages ago :(

Back to topic. I am so glad we popped into Sainsburys on our way home last night. Quick 10 minutes dash with a short queue. Managed to get lots of milk but it was selling out fast. I'm especially glad after listening to local radio (which I hate and only listen to when its bad weather for school info) saying the city was crazy with huge queues everywhere and food running out in the supermarkets. But the market was still stocked up with food so lots of suggestion to go there. But, unless its over a week, I don't think we need to buy anything and can quite happily live on the freezer and cupboard stuff.

We went to Sainsburys on Wednesday and it was busy. They didn't have any semi skimmed milk, we asked and they didn't have any in the back either. The man on the checkout said that they hadn't had any deliveries for a while and it was because people were panic buying that things were going out of stock. We called in at M&S on the way home and they did have milk.

We went out again today and M&S didn't have any milk so had to go to the dreaded Tesco's to get some. We have been living out of the freezer/store cupbaord for the past week since our visit to Sainsbury's on Wed. Mum gets worried about not having enough milk so we have got loads now. We did call in the farm shop as we were over that way today so if we do get more snow or can't be bothered to go shopping we will have loads of food for the 6 of us.
