Christian
Congrats Egluntine! I'm sure you and the children will have a fab time! Im ordered a run extension last week and also asked Penny to include a few extra Leaflets (the A5 size) as soooo many people at work ask me about the eglu! She sent me 12! Maybe she could send you some to give to the children? Also go on the main Omlet site and they is a schools section with work sheets! We should get commission

Nicola H
Have just been asked by a friend who runs a Nursery School if I could bring in a couple of my chickens for a little demo!! Am doing it next week. Will take Nugget and Kentucky as they are the sweetest natured. Any tips? That sounds like great fun, I would take lots of newpaper for the floor and maybe an old towel for the childrens knees, seat the children in a circle so that if your chooks make a dash for it somebody should be able to stop them...........Good luck and like Sarah says have that bottle of wine ready for later.... The Dogmother
Everybody has covered what I would've said Egluntine, each time I've done it it's been different - depends on the dynamics of the class. I wrote a list of what I wanted to say so that I covered everything, took some Omlet and BHWT information, some eggs and tea towels for laps. theherd123
Oh how fab!! You will have a great time. Its such a good idea to bring animals into the classroom esp for those children who dont have pets at home for one reason or another. You never know you might flog loads of Eglus to the parents
Egluntyne
Penny is sending me some leaflets for me to strategically dot around for parents to browse. She's as excited as I am. Thanks for all the tips. Will look at the teaching materials and take something simple for the children to do, probably the Omlet hen for them to colour in, as they are so young. Egluntyne
Am going on Tuesday and there will be about 25 children....Claire picked Tuesday as that is their busiest day and she wanted as many children as poss to see the girls!! And this is so sweet...their odd job man has made (already!) "one of those triangular thingy's" (an ark!)..."in case they make a run for it"!! I think they'd quite like a couple of chickens as a permanent feature!

Egluntyne
Well...it went swimmingly! The chickens behaved beautifully and weren't at all bothered by the experience. The ark that Richard had in his words "cobbled together" was a work of art! The children were fascinated and asked all sorts of questions, and were especially interested in the fact that hens like worms and slugs. Poo was a big topic too! The hens had laid enough eggs for each child to take one home. They sang a chorus of Chick Chick Chicken for me , and we had Rosie's Walk at story time...which brought back memories....there was a time when I knew that one off by heart! Claire has been doing some lovely work with them about Easter, so I was shown this, and they are all going to colour in the downloaded Omlet Hen. All in all a very enjoyable morning. Here are a couple of pics, but I'm no Daniel with the camera. Oh yes....one of the staff is quite keen on having an Eglu and a couple of chickens, so I'm "encouraging" her!
