Griffin
We haven't even had any RAF jets going over, perhaps they're grounded too. Same here, not heard any for a couple of days now.
Blackrocksrock
I hear of how damaging it is to the airline industry having to delay flights and cancel but how much more damaging would it be for a plane load of passengers to go down and potentially create another lockerbie in a town or village - sorry its best to be safe for all. Christian
Totally agree with you on that one BRR! More emails from work saying that all shorthaul flights for today cancelled.
Aunty e
OH and Mog stuck in Hong Kong - Cathay Pacific being total idiots. First flight they've been offered is for May 12th. They're travelling with a girl who is heading for seven months pregnant, and they've been told that pregnant women and infants aren't priorities for repatriation. They're out of formula and the local stuff has given the baby an upset stomach, so she's been puking for most of today. So angry I could literally kill someone right now but have no legitimate target for overpowering rage.

The Dogmother
If they're not careful, she'll be too far gone to travel. Anyone know what the limit is these days?

Snowy
Oh AuntyE, no matter what the reason for them not being able to fly, you must be going through hell with your baby so far away I really hope you get her back soon (((hugs)))
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
If they're not careful, she'll be too far gone to travel. Anyone know what the limit is these days? 'They' (generic) recommend you don't travel in the third trimester. After 27 weeks is an iffy at your own risk scenario and doctors' letters are often requested to confirm due dates/medical conditions, and after 36 weeks they're not keen in case you pop it out on the plane. All lines have their own slightly different regulations on it though.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I quite like this article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8630058.stm
Aunty e
Poor Lucy has a doctor's note to travel, but is obviously worried. She's been very healthy so far, but has antenatal appointments that she'd rather not miss, and would frankly rather be home with her OH. Apparently unaccompanied minors (obviously) and students with exams (less obviously IMO) have priority and "Ooops, word censored!"ody else. It's been a stinking week so far, if I've not been sick with a cold, it's been sinusitis, a tummy upset and then finally the fox got two of the chickens on saturday because I was a moron and didn't shut them in properly. So this has just made it all perfect, thank you SO much Mr Volcano.
Ziggy
That's a bit odd isn't it... I understand the unaccompanied minors thing, but I would have thought anyone with a health issue (including pregnancy, especially in it's later stages) should have priority over students and exams... not that I want to inconvenience students any more than they already are, but health seems a top priority to me... fluffyfeet
Hi Aunty E The Foreign Office have issued a telephone number for people in the UK to call who are concerned about relatives stuck abroad and I immediately thought about you. It is 020 7008 0000. Everything crossed for everybody's speedy return. Dawn x

patsylabrador
I still remain to be convinced that the ban was necessary. Unless I've read everything wrong, it was based on theory from computer modelling and not fact. I would have thought twice if I was travelling with children, as it's not fair to risk other peoples' lives, but as a lone traveller I would have been quite happy to take the risk if crew were happy to fly. I expect thousands of people around the world would have too. I also don't think the airline bosses are thinking just about their profits, thousands of people rely directly or indirectly on the aviation industry for their livelihoods and they are responsible for them. It must have been a worrying week, especially for those with families, not knowing if you were going to have a job by the end of it, especially as both partners sometimes work for the same airline and the knock-on effect for unemployment would have been pretty messy. Old Speckled Hen
It seems also that the Met office have been at some variance with satellite evidence. Nothing new there then
