Christian
I saw this idea on Wartime Farm this week and started sewing up small 'pockets' yesterday. It's going to be such a cosy quilt!
Olly
Ooh, that looks fun! I must not start another project until I've cleared some UFOs. Must not, must not ....
Christian
Just a few small Squares Olly......
Olly
just a few more rows on the knitted cushion cover, a few more rags in the rag rug and a few more hexagons in the patchwork ... let's not mention the Aran jumper which will soon be old enough to start school, and the eight identical Christmas projects which I have cut out but not done anything more to. I'm ignoring several embroidery kits which are tucked away in my sewing box with rusty needles in them! But those squares would be so easy, and so rewarding ... *puts hands over ears and runs away squealing*
Plum
Look you're never going to get half of that lot done so just think of it as your collection and start another project. Christian you have a great eye for fabric and colour
Christian
Christian you have a great eye for fabric and colour Aw, thanks Plum I have such a huge stash of fabric hidden everywhere It makes it easy to put colours together I guess?
chickencam
I was thinking the same they are lovely, so fresh. ED has just made a big quilt for her bed and taken it to uni with her she will be really toasty with that and her duvet. I will try to get a photo of it next time we are there. Chook n Boo Mum
I saw this idea on Wartime Farm this week and started sewing up small 'pockets' yesterday. It's going to be such a cosy quilt! Are you using feathers Christian?.....love the warmth of feathers, and loads available from moulting chookles, but am thinking washing would be a pain, I just know my furballs would want to snuggle up with me & my quilt
Christian
Nope, as I am using lots of different material, some of which is thin, so have used wadding from an old cushion. Plus it is easier to wash.

craftyhunnypie
Do you make little pillows, stuff them with say toy stuffing & then sew together in strips or groups of 4? Then sew together to make a quilt? Do you get little seams on th reverse of the quilt? It sounds a very nice thing to make & very satisfying. Christian
Yes Emma, I make the squares (just a rectangle, right sides together, sew up the long edges. Turn right side round, hand sew up the top and you have a square pillow), I then sew two together, then 4 etc etc. Seam at the back. It is lovely (or will be when finished)!! Lesley
I'm making Lauren's with polyester stuffing (old cushion) so that it's washable as well. I'm going to slip stitch the squares together so there won't be a seam on the back and I'm adding fleece fabric to make a larger comforter with the quilted part in the middle.....it won't be finished until January but I'll post a photo when it's done..... So far, I've looked at my stash of fabric........
PurpleTree
oh that quilt looks like a fab idea I've been having a go at making felt hanging hearts and things, I wanted to try some embroidery after going to a patchwork and embroidery exhibition and felt inspired. PurpleTree
I didn't actually make the felt though, haven't got the first idea of how to do that. I just bought a pack of various colours from eBay. Love the bright colours it comes in
