johnandkymberley
Hi all, i have found this whilst cleaning the poo trays this morning, is it worms? they were only wormed last week! never seen anything like this before so would be grateful of some advice! thanks xx Edited October 5, 2010 by Guest
goodinparts
SO not an expert - and am sure someone knowledgeable will appear shortly but that certainly looks pretty wormy to me....I guess that will be wormer doing its work, then - the idea is to get rid of the nasty creatures, after all. Hope your chooks thrive
chicken bark
Ewww. I'd worm them again in a couple of weeks. Did you use flubenvet? I have to say I am not an expert and cannot confirm that it is worms but other than them stashing a supply of spaghetti I don't know what else it could be. MarkBevBen
I've seen worms that humans get and they do look like that Having said that, I'm no expert on chicken worms at all, so hopefully someone can advise you. Hope your chickens are okay otherwise
chick wiggle
Wow! Never seen them like that before, thank you for showing the photo. I guess they are worms and like mentioned before, it shows the wormer is doing its job, was it flubenvet?
Chucky Mama
Yes that is quite a hefty load of worms If you used Flubenvet I would be inclined to do them again in 4 weeks. If you are using Verm-x I would be inclined to do them again with Flubenvet.
The Dogmother
Were the worms dead or alive? If they were dead, then they might indicate that the recent dose of wormer worked. I'd still be inclined to repeat-worm with Flubenvet though.
Jools
Yes they're worms I'd say it shows your worming treatment is working and that you need to do it regularly to keep them worm-free.

Wolfie
Our rescue hybrid leghorn had a discharge of worms just like the photo after we'd dosed her with Flubenvet. Her previous owners did not believe in worming! Following the packet advice, we wormed her again to catch the worm eggs inside her, within a few weeks of the original worming. She is now wormed every 3 months. Snowy still managed to lay - indeed has laid every day since we were "given" her! Eeewww ....but good of you to post photo - a picture paints a thousand words. Spaghetti ...
johnandkymberley
thanks for all your answers, i find it revolting to look at the pic but i wanted to be sure you knew what i was talking bout! yes they were dead which is good and they were wormed again at the weekend and i havent seen anything like it before or again! so fingers crossed! xxx
beach chick
hopefully she will be feeling a lot better without those nasties in her tummy!! hideous, but as I am in the middle of flubenvetting (doing it properly this time) I will be off out for an inspection every chance I get
Heidi-Hi
If you don't get any worms expelled after a worming session, does that mean that the worming didn't work, or that the chickens are worm-free?
The Dogmother
It means that either they were worm-free, or that they pooed them out while free ranging. Don't forget that some worms are tiny and hard to see.
