Snow

Recommended Posts

It's been just on freezing here most of the day but the temperature is now dropping - same forecast as Clare and Tash, minus 10 tonight.

We still have a problem with our water supply and very low pressure - it has been logged with Severn Trent but we're working on the principle of "if it aint broke, don't fix it" - we still have water and I don't want anyone to have to come out to have a look.

On the plus side I had a phone call from Severn Trent to say they are sending a cheque for the amount we had to pay a plumber to sort out the boiler after they kept turning off our supply without telling us a few weeks ago......Happy Christmas!! 8)

No snow over night, -11deg this morning and ice on the inside of my bedroom window (it is slightly open at night).

V E R Y icy out there though.

My folks made it up all right, Phil came without his folks - the road had been cleared by the tractor but his mum was worried about the journey and getting back afterwards, even though Phil was driving them.... They are in their 80s though. Lovely clear day with lots of sunshine, far too much food and some super presents.

Still under a blanket of snow here but it didn't snow yesterday and non so far today :D Freezing cold at -3c. It is like living in Narnia.

I went into Elgin and it was plus 7 degrees this afternoon - we are still minus over here though. We had 3 snow showers yesterday - so officially a white christmas!

That's a fabulous photo 8)

The best I can do is more frozen canals. not been above -5 for ages now so there are human prints on them as well as the foxes and rats! Even saw bicycle tracks yesterday, and many heavy items thrown on in attempts to break the ice, none of which worked.

This is the Birmingham/Worcester canal, and a lovely old brick bridge.

Pretty canal cottage at the junction of Bham/Worcs and Bham/Stratford canals, which is a basin over 100 feet wide and all frozen solid.

Great photos :D

No more snow here but we went up to Radnage to see the outlaws today... lane is just about passable - will post photos tomorrow. It's 600 feet up in the Chilterns and right on top of a ridge, so they get very extreme weather up there.

Banbury still has quite a bit of snow and our road is terrible; like a frozen, ploughed field with great heaps of frozen snow where people have tried to clear their cars or front gardens. Even I don't much care fro driving down it and I'm a seasoned snow driver.

Well, woke to the sound of dripping, and we have a thaw  I thought I heard a crash in the night, it was a massive block of ice falling off my guttering, thank goodness  Back guttering that I can see in to is still frozen solid but all the little icicles have gone, and the snow on the roof is melting and running straight off.

Today could be dodgy around buildings

2c here and thawing slowly! I'm going out in a bit to sluice away the pile of yellow snow by the back door that the dogs have kindly left for me :vom: (it was too cold for them to go and piddle at the bottom of the garden where they normally go! )

Gorgeous canal and icicle pics! 8)
