Cate in NZ
Feeling sorry for myself today I've developed a stinking cold............ must be man flu , and all I want to do is just curl up somewhere with a lemsip and pot of tea. I've pottered around a bit today, half heartedly doing housework and surfing fora, and now I've got to take daughter for an appointment at Darenth Valley Hospital- I hate hospital waiting rooms at the best of times Oh, well, having just shamelessly asked for sympathy I'd best go and get on again, got to pick up from school early to get to the appointment time. Roll on this evening when I can allow myself to collapse quietly somewhere

Nicola's jaffa cakes sound fab and I've got a tray of cherry and oat cookies cooling as well if you're still peckish. Hope you're soon feeling better and good luck at the hospital. Hope the appointments are running on time .

Guest
Kate, I'd offer you a shoulder to sniffle onto, but I've got a stinking cold as well - when it started, i thought it was just hayfever well and truely kicking in, but it's developed into full 'man flu' as well - still, we girlies must struggle on, snotty hanky in one hand, paracetamol in the other and a bottle of vicks sinex stuck up our nose.... Egluntyne
There is a lot of it about. I hope you feel better soon.
Sheilaz
Tea & sympathy on it's way. Kate, it sounds like a rotten cold I had a couple of weeks back, I did have to curl up with a hot water bottle. I didn't even fancy a cuppa so I knew it was bad. So, every sympathy, give yourself some time off to recover, it's a nasty virus. I'm only just getting my brain back. Laura & CTB
I can offer you a glass of hot lemon and whisky before bedtime
lizinsa
I'll offer you some tea and Banana and Walnut bread (any excuse!) But could you please be so kind as to not pass it on, I've got exams starting next week!!! Hope you're feeling better soon and didn't have too long a waiting at the hospital - why oh why are hospital waiting rooms so bad?
craftyhunnypie
We swear by hot milk, with a spoon of honey in and some ground nutmeg on the top. If you like you can add a measure of brandy too! An Austrian tradition, but it works! Brandy is great for getting rid of flu symptoms! Just chill when you get back from the hospital. Cate in NZ
Thanks all The hospital bit wasn't too trying fortunately, and hubby was a star, bought me a takeaway, force-fed me 1/2 a bottle of red wine and tucked me in bed nice and early I love the idea of home-made Jaffa cakes Nicola, I have a guilty addiction to the shop bought variety (but I just bet that they don't use free range eggs in their recipe ), pity I'm on too late to take advantage of the offer. I've been dreadfully lazy this morning, but now I'm stoked up with tea and paracetamol, thankfully as darling daughter has thoughtfully invited 2 pals round this afternoon- they're all off to a party and apparently I'm great at helping with hair and make-up. Not at all, I'm just superb at emptying out the contents of my fridge and cake tins for the starving masses, and at chauffeur duties . Oh well, most of the time I'm pleased that the children want to bring their friends round.......... it's just that I could really do without it today Thanks again for all the good wishes and helpful hints, any suggestions involving cake or alcohol are always gratefully recieved
