Chortle Chook
Far from being on your own, John Lewis will now be wondering why their sales of that particular cushion have suddenly shot up

Space Chick
Space Chick - I'll be moving your way soon - you best watch out for chookies going poof in the night. They might just end up in my eglus! I have ultimately serious morehen breakdown disease at the moment & it's only the fact that I'm going to be moving that is stopping me. Once moved & settled, hubby will not know how many we have from one day to the next - plus ducks, guineas, pigs &..... (secret animals). Emma.x I'll help you shop for pets
chickenNutter
Morehens is a deperate condition and seems to have become more virulent and agressive in recent months. I have been keeping 3 chickens quite happily for around 17 months and then 3 weekends ago THIS HAPPENED! Silkie, Lilo Lil and baby Partridge Wyandotte Little Dot, just happened. I don't know how, they just came into my posession. This disease is frightening. Resist RESIST!
mostin
I must say as a newbie or even pre-newbie I have been swotting (is that the spelling?) up on the chicken knowledge on here only to be disturbed to hear about this seemingly local disease. Oh yeah ,ha ha I get it (more than I thought)Would you believe that only after such brief and remote exposure on here (and not even a whiff of one real hen yet) I have caught it too....so am now plotting to squeeze a fourth ex batt into my soon to be hen-eglu. Yikes contagious or wot? Another one bites the dust Beware of sudden onset, symptoms can lay dormant and then suddenly break out . I went to the Bakewell show just to show some eggs ............. and I came home with 5 new girls ..... how did that happen .

scarlettohara
During December and January I was in remission, but unfortunately it has returned with a vengence and I now have 7 banties in an incubator It will only get worse as the Reading Bantam show is in 2 weeks
The Dogmother
don't! Rosie is already telling me not to come back with more hens 'fortunately' she won't be with me that weekend, so won't be 'acting Prudence'.
bronze
I've had a case of morehens recently. After being prudent for the last two years I have ex bat girls and probably a boy coming on the 20th and am trying to find some hubbard hatching eggs

goodinparts
My Morehens has just received a boost - I asked on freecycle this morning if anyone had a spare plastic pet carrier and lo, two were offered by lunchtime. So I will go to Reading prepared This makes me very happy... I want SOOOOOOOOOOO many chickens
Stella14
My Other Half and I were suddenly struck down at the weekend. We went along to our local supplier only to discuss when she might have Orpingtons available this year. She has buff chicks, so not old enough to sex for four months! We found ourselves suddenly afflicted with Morehens disease and came home with another Rhode Rock and a very gorgeous Pied Suffolk we are feeling better now! Roobaloo
I'm getting my Pekins!!!! In the end, I just outright said I was getting them...he sighed and said "So long as I won't have to go near them or build anything..." WOOOHOOOO!!!! Chortle Chook
Roobaloo, when? How many? What colours? Questions, questions
Roobaloo
Not sure when....one condition was that I wasn't allowed to buy another coop/hen house!! But I'm not too bad at building things...and have panels from an old rabbit run that can be used!! I'll start working on it at the weekend! I think two, maybe three...depending on how well the house goes!! I can't decide on colours!!! They're all so beautiful!! It's so difficult to choose! I was about to start listing the ones that caught my eye...then realised I'd listed most of them ...so I may have to do some more research before I decide!! Chortle Chook
You've probably looked at this site before but have you seen the Pekins on The Norfolk Gardens Website I keep having to go back and have another look at them.
Roobaloo
They're so gorgeous aren't they!! From there, I love the cuckoos...but I'm also torn with the lavender and the millefleur!! I want them all!!
The Dogmother
I have two pekins, one black and one lavender; they differ wildly in size - the black is about twice the size of the lavender. Their most attractive trait is their personality; they take no prisoners
Chortle Chook
A lady near me has a whole lot of Lavender Pekins and they are soooo pretty - a real lilac clour. I have a bit of thing, however, about the millfleur pattern on any chook and I also love the chamois colouring. I'm rather hoping I'll be able to get one of each this year. Perhaps in a Frizzle Poland X
Plum
How about a nice dark lavendar pekin
Roobaloo
How about a nice dark lavendar pekin Awwwww!!!! Sooooooooo cute!! I'm definitely leaning towards a lavender and a millefleur!! (not that I've been doing much "research"... ) Now I just have to resist the urge to go buy them until their run is complete!!
