chick wiggle
Having just started work again, after a year off! I am now driving Eddie Stobart lorries. The thing that has amazed me more than anything are the spotters. They lay in wait outside the depots and i had photos taken of my lorry while delivering in Manchester. They also wait in motorway services for them too. So, will anyone own up to been an Eddie spotter then?
Guest
it's good to have a hobby but i can think of more productive ones If we're on the m/way and on a long journey we sometimes say 'the first to spot an eddie stobart lorry doesn't have to make the tea when we get there' or that sort of thing but i think waiting in laybys and at depots is a little bit sad
Old Speckled Hen
I always look out for the girlie names. I'd never lay in wait outside a depot though but some might and good luck to them. At least they're not "robbing old ladies"
chick wiggle
Yep, they're doing what they like to do and not hurting anyone else while doing it so good luck to them is exactly what i thought too. Very nice people too apparently, a few of the drivers said they will chat away and know so much about stobarts, more than most of the drivers
Cinnamon
We used to - it was a great way to keep the children busy when we went on car journeys. We never did the depot thing though, although I did once turn around a 'chase' one lorry I saw,so I could add it to my list. Both my girls have Lorries named for them too
whoopsie
My Dad always shouts 'EDDIE!' when he sees one - I don't shout but usually smile - mainly because I can picture his face!

percy049
my grandparents always shout out "eddie stobart!" whenever they see one, and ive joined in. We hardly see any in East Anglia, only when we go travelling around the country. I do always look at the lorry names/drivers to see if I recognise anyone off the tv programme! Jools
remind me of when my dad was a trucker *giggles* he wasn't that big but some of them that worked for his company were I think its half the sitting behind a wheel grabbing fast food to eat on the go that does it, well that was dads excuse. My dad was a trucker too though he never drove for Stobarts. He loved the life and really missed it when he finally had to retire. This is one of my favourite photos from over 40 yrs ago - it's how I like to remember him.
chick wiggle
What a brilliant photo Jools, things have certainly changed a bit since then!
Jools
Haven't they just! I can remember accompanying him during the school holidays on his runs down to the New Forest with my sister - we loved stopping at the greasy spoon cafes! His last few lorries were more like hotels on wheels but he did practically live in them when he was away for a week or more at a time driving on the continent. He kept them absolutely spick and span, inside and out, but he never seemed to work out how to clean the bath out at home!
