abwsco
Been killed by American forces in Pakistan. Just pray that there are no major retaliations.
scarlettohara
Is this true - good news but I suppose there is always someone to replace him
Clur
Please also be aware that Internet security companies are already tracking a high volume of spam and computer virus threats. Please don't click on any links sent to you, or on any sites unless you're 100% confident it's legitimate. What news to wake up to hey. Wonder if it will make much difference to 'the war on terror' or if Al Queda are so well established now, practically it won't have too much affect? The families of those killed or maimed in previous attacks must be having some mixed feelings today, will keep them in my prayers.
j00lz_12366
It is true yes I think that retaliation will be on the way, and yes those who fill his boots will no doubt make him a martyr...not a good time for all of us

craftyhunnypie
Hubby wondered if The Americans knew where he was during the Royal Wedding, but have waited until a few days after to kill him. I too thought - that will provoke trouble now. Just wish there could be peace, but suppose his deputy / next in line will take over. beach chick
mixed feelings here too. I can understand that those who lost loved ones in any of his horrible activities will feel a sense of justice done. BUT, it's the case of the many-headed hydra I think - you cut down one bad man and 10 more spring up in his place. (I may be mixing my metaphors a bit here). I do think there will be serious retribution ahead. and we also thought perhaps the US held off til after the Royal Wedding, and that it could be another reason why they postponed their honeymoon. laurmurf
I think the triumphalism over his killing in the US has been quite disgusting. So little thought for proper justice and the use of international war crimes trials, as well as no understanding of the potential impact worldwide. I suspect the burial at sea is to prevent a funeral or burial place becoming a focus for followers.
beach chick
I do agree with you lauramurf, but I do UNDERSTAND the Americans must be feeling like rejoicing...
Christian
We have already been warned at work regarding retaliation and suspect the UK will shortly issue the highest threat level again. Enhanced security at airports, train stations and ports etc.
beach chick
me and OH were thinking about potential targets - assuming (hoping? )the US is more unpopular than the UK, we came up with: the Hoover Dam; Macdonalds, Coca Cola, Ford etc - iconic symbols of the USA, and given that they already tried the Pentagon and the White House at 9/11. everything crossed tho for all our serving forces who must surely be the first in line... I pray to god they come home safe.
Lavenders_Blue
Agree with what has been said so far. I really can't imagine this will achieve anything positive. Retaliation seems more or less inevitable and it goes without saying that there will be another maniac lined up to replace him.
chuckmum6
I think the triumphalism over his killing in the US has been quite disgusting. I agree, I remember the scenes of celebration after 9/11 and the completely justifiable disgust at them by the Americans, I found an uncomfortable similarity with today's scenes. I don't see any winners in this, whether his death will change things we will see.
Guest
we saw a bomb disposal unit tearing up the m56 toward manchester airport today, might have been unrelated but still worrying.

Old Speckled Hen
I think we should become Switzerland; deploy our military to guard the Vatican, and make and hide lots of money for the rest of the world (see the advantages of double standards?)........
