CatieB
I need to rant and apologise upfront. We have waited in all morning for an amazon, guaranteed before 1 pm delivery. No show and the courier has told amazon they tried to deliver at 10.13. Its a lie. We live very rurally and can see the approach road for a dead straight mile, they have not come and there is no delivery card. Given that we paid extra for the guaranteed delivery we would obviously need the item so are now stuck. Not happy, so now need to consider driving a 50 mile round trip to Cambridge to buy item which will be a substitute as the one we want is only available online. Patricia W
Did Amazon say they would investigate? I've heard of couriers doing this so many times
bluekarin
How frustrating. My mum was waiting for a delivery. I was with her listing some stuff on ebay when the delivery guy came. He put the card through the door, didn't knock at all and drove off! I just couldn't believe he didn't even see if we were in. Had to wait another week for him to delivery the package. What have the courier company or Amazon said?
squiffs
I ordered a Kindle and had it sent guaranteed delivery for 1st November before 1pm - Amazon mislabelled it and at 3pm when I called royal mail I only then discovered my parcel would not be coming. They sent out a replacement to arrive the next day before 12. I called at 2 and city-link told me it hadn't even left the sorting depot. It eventually arrived at 1pm on 3rd November 48 hours after my 'next day delivery' slot - so naturally, I demanded my money back from Amazon, which they refunded that same day. Amazon customer service has been brilliant whenever things like that have gone wrong for me though, even down to being able to request they call me instead of having to pay premium rate. It's generally the couriers that I take issue with, city-link having one of the worst reputations.
CatieB
Yes it was citilink and I know 100% they did not come. Although Amazon will refunded me in full (when it hits my credit card - why is money always quick to go but not come back), and said they would pass my comments on I am still aggreived. Quite frankly that doesn't cut it. As I've said I then had to drive the 50 mile round trip to Cambridge to settle for a second best product. There are other companies that offer next day delivery and obviously I will not be using Amazon in future when I need next day delivery. They have lost a customer and this purchase alone was hundreds of pounds. Plus we had to pay for the replacement before the refund is there. I am not convinced they will take it up with citilink, they will just say they came. I can't take it up with them as there is no card so no details or reference for who or what depot were dealing with it. Plus will they care? I'm not their customer, amazon is. I think I have mentioned previously that I drove past a friends house a few months back and saw a courier outside. She lives about a mile further down my road. The courier stopped me and asked me to take delivery of the item, which I did. He didn't ask who I was or where I lived and off I drove with the item. I have no idea if it was valuable or not. I could of been anyone. They simply dont care as we live rurally and they can't be bothered to drive to a neighbour, make enquires or have to come back. memphisto
I hate Citilink with a passion. I live semi- rural and have a private drive up to my and the neighbours house, no gate or anything but you know if someone is coming up the drive, you hear them or their cars on the track. I was waiting for my coop to arrive on a given day....it didn't arrive, seller had given me a tracking number, put it in Citilink's website, said delivery attempted, well it wasn't Re-scheduled for 2 days later, same thing. Rang their call centre who basically called me a liar. The depot was a 90 mile round trip and we'd already paid £35 for next day deliver, OH had to go in a borrowed works van to collect it and he kicked up an almighty row and the guy behind the counter said the driver was unable to locate the house, this is after they said the driver had been knocking on the door and there was no answer. I've had similar with Yodel and I said 'look, if you say you've attempted delivery, what colour front door were you knocking on' Luckily I'm a stay at home mum so not greatly put out except for the down right annoying factor
CatieB
Guess what, today I got home to find a missed delivery card from citilink. Despite the fact amazon cancelled it so I could have a refund. And it was a first delivery card i.e. they will try again tomorrow, reinforcing what I already know that they didn't come on Saturday
Ain't Nobody Here
How infuriating . I can't understand couriers - surely it's in their interests to deliver the item first time .
sage
Had great costumer service from Amozon the other week. Within 30 mins of sending a email asking why an order had been in transit for 7 days I had a phone call saying it was all their fault sending it with the wrong courier. They resent the order the same day and couldn't appologise enough. Sage
Space Chick
So frustrating We live about 5 miles from a major Amazon distribution centre... And on more than one occasion they have not delivered when promised.... Or a card has been left when the door wasn't knocked (OH calls Citylink the company that drive around in big vans full of cards ).... Which has meant we have needed to drive PAST the amazon distribution centre and another 20 miles on top to pick up our parcels drives me crazy
little cluckers
I had a card left yesterday from Hermes saying that my parcel has been left behind the dustbins even though I have a large sign on my door asking couriers not to leave parcels as we've had them go missing in the past! I checked and surprise surprise no parcel! When I tried to call the number on the card, it tells me to contact the sender.....how on earth do I know who sent the parcel if it's not here?? There are no other numbers on their website so I've had to lie and say it was a Hermes parcel just so that I can contact them via email!! Have also been contacting the various companies that I've ordered from in the last few days to see who uses Hermes.
The Dogmother
Had similar at work and home on numerous occasions. Currently nudging the Royal Mail to find a parcel of mine which has gone missing between the sorting office and my work address
Chucky Mama
I have been waiting for something since 14th. I logged on to track it and got the message "data received - awaiting collection" - Manchester Service Centre I live in Swindon, 4-5 hours from Manchester so I had no idea what this meant. So, I phoned Yodel and was told that it was waiting at the Manchester Rd Depot in Swindon for me to collect as they had tried to deliver 3 times unsuccessfully What a big fat lie No calling cards left - strange that they didn't leave one all 3 times. I work from home and so am in all the time. If I pop out I have 4 retired neighbours and a note on the door saying it can be left with any one of them, PLUS it said it could be left with them or on the step on the package. There is no way that they have tried to deliver this package.
The Dogmother
I've had things left in my recycling bin before now - it it out the front on 'bin day' and hence the item has gone to the tip card says 'left in blue recycling bin' I mean, how hard is it? Smudge
I hate dealing with couriers and CityLink are just the worst! I did at least have a card through the door when I came home on Monday, which said they would automatically attempt a second delivery the next day, which if not successful the package would have to be collected from the depot (a 50 mile round trip), unless I contacted them to re-arrange another date. Well, I would be at work all day again so I tried to re-arrange on their website using the consignment number the driver had put on the card, and that wouldn't work as it couldn't recognise the number. So I tried to call the telephone number on the card to re-arrange.... all I got was a message saying "This is a test message" over and over. Ahh! Finally I went back online, found their main customer services number and called them, and they had to track the parcel down as the driver had put the wrong consignment number on the card! It's now coming on Friday..... I hope!
Mercedes55
I hate all courier services and also Royal Mail Parcel Force. I have lost count of the amount of times all of the companies already named have claimed I am not in when they have tried to deliver. I don't even go and clean out the hens, do any hoovering or blow dry my hair on a day when I am expecting a delivery as I am always worried about not hearing the door bell ring. A few years ago I bought a whole load of china at half price in the JL sale and it somehow got lost. It took about 2wks to eventually get to me and the poor driver was really worried it would all be smashed to bits as looking at the paperwork it seems the parcel had gone right around the country. Fortunately it was all okay, no thanks to them. I see that Amazon are now starting to do those Amazon Lockers for picking up orders at your own convenience. Not sure what it all entails, but I have noticed there is one opening in our local shopping mall. Does mean a trip into town, but at least it means you can order things at a good price and pick them up at a time that suits you.
Jennifer Jane
I hate all courier services and also Royal Mail Parcel Force. I have lost count of the amount of times all of the companies already named have claimed I am not in when they have tried to deliver. I don't even go and clean out the hens, do any hoovering or blow dry my hair on a day when I am expecting a delivery as I am always worried about not hearing the door bell ring. I've heard a few people complain that they've been home waiting for a parcel and "Ooops, word censored!"ody has rung the doorbell, just pushed a card through the door. One friend missed her delivery when she went to the downstairs loo - she heard the doorbell but couldn't get there in the two seconds that the courier presumably waited. I've never experienced that though I had fun with Yodel a few weeks back. They attempted to deliver a parcel on Tuesday and left a card. I rang the number on the card when I got home and one of the automated options said I could choose to have the parcel delivered to another address. So I thought I would get them to take it to my mother who only lives a few miles away. Anyway when I got through the automated options it turned out the depot was only open working hours, which meant that I would have another attempted delivery on Wednesday. I tried online but it wouldn't work for my delivery reference number. I rang from work the next day and got through to a person who told me that that depot didn't offer the delivery to another address option, so I arranged to pick it up Saturday morning. As expected I got a card through the door on Wednesday. Then I had yet another card through the door on Thursday I rang the depot again on Friday and was told not to worry, they wouldn't try to deliver again and the parcel would be waiting for me on Saturday. So I got to the depot (about 20 miles away) on Saturday morning and was told that according to the computer the driver had delivered the parcel, and left it in a safe place!!! Luckily, I asked them to double check and they eventually found my parcel. I would have been extremely miffed if I had returned home to no parcel. While I was there I noticed them drop another person's parcel (luckily containing a plastic toy), so I suppose I should have checked my parcel. And of course, the item was broken The following week I returned home to another card from Yodel and my heart sank, but this time they had left the package with a neighbour who doesn't work. I don't know why they couldn't have done that before. It must be the luck of the draw as to how conscientious a driver you get.
Cinnamon
Just had my delivery from Ikea via DHL cancelled at the last minute for the third time. Chucky Mama
Couriers that told me on Tuesday that they had tried to deliver to me 3 times (total lie), now tell me that they still haven't delivered my order as never received it from the company I ordered from. Sadly website does not have a phone number and don't answer emails but...oh dear, they have a Facebook page, looks like I'll have to make my feelings public

A complete shambles but I now have a new order coming with free next day delivery , 20% off and free returns - they didn't volunteer any of this, I had to tell them that this is what they would be doing
Lavenders_Blue
Wow, reading all this I do feel exceptionally lucky. I regularly have parcels delivered (items sent to me from work as well as my own parcels) and have never had any problems. I'm perhaps particularly lucky as in my little street there are 4 houses and there is just about always someone at home in one of them - I work from home as do two of my neighbours and a retired couple live in the other house (although they are probably out the most!). Every courier seems happy to leave parcels with a neighbour, we all regularly take in parcels for each other, or I have occasionally found a parcel behind my garden gate which I don't mind. I would be fuming though if I had received the kind of rubbish service you are all describing!
