stehaggan
Well I had someone from ITV knock on my door very randomly last week asking if they could come in and have a look around and asked if I would like to be on the new series of there show eeeek!! I am very proud of my house and the style but I've never seen the show, has anyone seen it? Is it like come dine with me where they all get criticised, id be a bit mortified if people dissed it because it isn't to their taste lol I have just had the producer email me to ask me if I would still be interested and would like your thoughts please EEEEK! yvonne
Think I just caught a few secs of it on TV - it may be available on some kind of view again or if you are around now, try ITV plus 1 ?
Reikiranf
I quite like the programme, I've recorded the current series but haven't had time to watch it It is a bit like come dine with me and the people usually end up serving a bit of food depending on the time of day, they all go round each others houses and score them according to what they like & dislike about the house & the one with the highest score wins. They often put extremes in one programme, like an ultra modern minimalist place, a cluttered place full of antiques, an eco energy efficient place & an immaculate show home. It's on ITV now! or ITV +1 at 3pm. In the past the people taking part have generally been pretty nice, you must have quite an eyecatching home for them to knock at the door. If you feel comfortable with it then go for it, but if you don't want strangers traipsing round your home then say no, you could always record it and watch it to see what you think
loumabel
I have seen the program and the people scoring you look in all your cupboards and drawers and some are very nasty and critical. It is very like come dine with me, and some of the people are nice and some not so nice. If you are easily offended and take other peoples comments to heart I would steer clear!! It is very flattering to be approached and your house must be something special and lovely to have caught their attention . I was asked to have my old house in a homes magazine a few years back and I did it to promote my business at the time but I would never do it again, a team of people turned up and took over my whole house moving furniture and stuff around and to be honest it was a fairly unpleasant experience. If you have something you would like to promote then I would go for it otherwise I would approach with caution as these people only want to make a good telly programme and they don't care who gets upset along the way. newcountrygirl
Go for it - and if people say anything negative just laugh it off as some of them score low tactically. I think it will be a laugh and you never know - your lovely home might win and you'd recoup the cash spent of the new Eglu!
chickencam
I caught a trailer for this programme the other night, and to be honest it would be my worst nightmare. OH & I looked at each other and said why?
stehaggan
Well after careful consideration I am still considering lol I was talking to one of my neighbours and they are actually doing it and have been filming the past few days 7am - 715 eugh! There house is the same as ours very modern but they have oldie worldie furniture in it - it looks like a pub so I think the producers want a contrast. I did try to put them off as they wanted to film next monday and tuesday (do they not realise I will need to dust) lol and I have to work but they said they can film at the end of Jan so now im still considering lol. I love my house and everything in it but I know its not everyones cup of tea. I try to keep it minimal and modern but I know some people like the warmness of a house don't they so I think my style may not do me any favours. I have a few of the programs now recorded so I will decide by monday I think - although the 1000£ would be nice. Here is some piccies (taken in summer)- see what you think (And please make comment if you wish so I can prepare and improve incase i do go ahead with it. (everyone is different I know so I dont mind harsh comments lol) And as you can see no space for any chooks there x
Seagazer
Looks fantastic to me - very modern and very, very tidy!!

Plum
Wow you are so organised, I could never achieve that. I'd do it for £1000, you won't need to do much tidying up first .
Daphne
I found myself watching this for a few minutes this week. Its a bit like Come Dine with Me I thought, so only go with it if you can stand all that that entails! I think your house is lovely; we go to Belgium/Netherlands for long weekends about once a year and your house looks like the sort of design-led house I'd choose to rent or go for B&B - its the complete contrast to what I live in but I love to see it and can appreciate it One teensy thing, ignore if you like of course, but I'd make more of the bedroom PS You must be very organised, where's all the stuff? Looney
I've only seen parts of the programme. I think so long as you can go with the flow and are not offended by what a total stranger will say about your home then perhaps it is something you should do! After all, you will be nosing around their homes and I doubt the other contestants will all have styles that you would go for. Your home looks fab. Very sleek and modern, clean lines and quite minimal I wouldn't cope with living there as my house tends to be total chaos
loumabel
Your house is Gorgeous!!!!! my dogs would trash it in hour so no hope of me achieving such a beautiful finish.
stehaggan
Ha thanks Well the mess - that all goes to the allotment and in the shed ( i will soon be buying a bigger shed lol) Our house has no storage at all that is the biggest downfall. I know what you mean about making more of the bedroom - i think i need somethings on the wall dont i!
Daphne
Thats what I thought, you've got such striking pieces elsewhere on walls or shelves Have you seen the thread about people not following the house buying rules....you'll love it
Cinnamon
Lovely house - so tidy! I would think long & hard before doing the show. You say they knocked on your door - just wondering why your house...is it as great from the outside too???
stehaggan
No its not really great outside at the front, but the developers of them have made them in a particular style. They're basically old red brick terraces, they knocked down the whole house except the front wall and rebuilt it upside down. So bedrooms and bathroom downstairs, lounge upstairs and kitchen in the loft. I think they must have tried a few houses but the lady who knocked on the door said she had peered into my front room (bedroom 2) and loved it! Who knows :-S x
stehaggan
Daphne, I have just seen that hideous cottage in Sheffield haha.. ewww it is disgusting (I hope it is noones on here). It would cost double the price of the house to redecorate it to make me want to live in it lol x
Cinnamon
Have you ever thought about putting it on to the books of a location company Ste? You might get something exciting filmed there (I can so see it in an advert!)

chelsea
If you don't mind me asking but how do you keep it so pristine and white with a dog?! I'm continuously wiping mud splatter from shaking tails, paw prints and hair etc. I love white but could just not have it! Does Jasper wear slippers & a housecoat? stehaggan
ha ha we Hoover him (only joking) no admittedly as soon as its clean he gets his hair everywhere so then it gets cleaned again We are getting a new puppy in about 2 weeks so I think the house will pretty much be destroyed by January lol unless I can persuade OH to let me get a cleaner lol
