craftyhunnypie
Cheers Lewis! You could well have experienced this! Curling up into a little ball is the only way to ease any pain. I've got some apple juice in, which I do actually love anyway. There are going to be a lot of foods that I will miss! Especially chocolate & cheese! I've always loved & appreciated good food, so this is going to be hard for me. We eat a reasonably healthy diet with the odd cake, chocolate & pud here & there. That's life! Or so I thought! Another mug of hot water and some Saturday afternoon telly (garbage). Emma.x
Plum
Phew just seen this thread. Take care Emma and if you're in trouble again take your Omlet Aunties advice if only to get strong pain killers.
Alis girls
Glad you are feeling better but not happy you havent been to emerg dr or A&E. Agree trapped wind is awful - you do think you are dying - sounds like could be gall stones - do you get shoulder blade pain?
Yorkshire Pudding
I've also just seen this thread and am worried that you haven't been seen by a doctor yet. The pain can stop & start suddenly, and you're right, it is crippling. Stick to the very bland diet and lots of fluids till Monday and I hope you have another comfortable night x
craftyhunnypie
Had a bit of pain last night during Casualty & was shivering, but then I must have dropped off on the sofa. Feel sort of bruised today. Hubby home this afternoon. I assure you it is not trapped wind! Emma.x

Mum
Had a bit of pain last night during Casualty & was shivering, but then I must have dropped off on the sofa. Feel sort of bruised today. Hubby home this afternoon. I assure you it is not trapped wind!Emma.x I don't think anyone on here believes it is trapped wind, Emma, that is why everyone is advising you seek medical advice sooner rather than later. Perhaps when hubby gets home he could take you to the hospital?

craftyhunnypie
I'm not going the hospital. Been speaking to someone over the weekend who's daughter went A&E 3 times, only to be sent back home. So think it would be a waste of time. There is nothing more they would do than what the doctor would do. Probably schedule a scan, then put me on a waiting list for surgery - if it proves to be gallstones / gallbladder trouble. It's not so easy to just go the hospital. It's a good half hours drive away. We live in a village a bit in the sticks at the base of the mountains. Sorry if I sound a bit stroppy. Very low at the mo as can't do the things I want to. It's a wonder I am going the doctors even, as I don't do doctors. Haven't been near one since 2005! We normally use herbal medicines - hence the reason I've been using ' Flax seed' for gallstones. I only worried really after being sick & the colour of my urine! For me, that told me something is wrong & that it wasn't trapped wind - so I booked a doctors appointment. We decided to have a sort of week off together this week. Once our work is done, we were going to have a few days out exploring a few more places round here. As not really had the chance, as our business has been so busy up to and actually after Xmas. Hopefully we can still do that. Emma.x
Cheeky Chooky
Sorry to read how much you've been suffering Hope the Doc makes a quick diagnosis and that you feel better very soon
Cinnamon
Yes,you will be scheduled for a scan...that is what happened to me,BUT if you go in as an emergency case then this will be very quick,as will the surgery. When I had my diagnostic scan I was told that only 'hot' gallstones cases get surgical priority,& as I was managing I could choose whether to see if they pass or to go on the waiting list, with the assurance that I would be bumped up should I go hot. Go to the Doctors as soon as you can & get a proper diagnosis. And if it gets much worse then do go down the emergency route, because it IS an emergency if you are in agony & cannot lead a normal life. Sometimes you just need to do stuff like this, for your own good. I don't know if ot is this thread making me think on it,but I have had grumblings again too these last couple of days, which makes me wish I had had the thing out when I had the chance! Chickendoodle
Just to say I had my gall bladder removed some 8 years ago now. They use keyhole surgery now so you have a little incision just under your navel, another one to the side and one near the ribcage. There was very little pain and I was fine within about 5 days. My Aunt was schedule to have hers removed and put it off twice as she was scared of surgery. She then developed life threatening pancreatitis and had to have emergency gall bladder surgery (which is not keyhole and is major!) Please please, if you are advised to have surgery go for it as you will feel like a new woman afterwards and the operation is very easy to recover from. The slight discomfort post surgery is nothing compared to the gallstones pain

craftyhunnypie
Hi all! Actually had a pain free day today - until the doctor examined my tummy and prodded on where the gallbladder lies. Ow! He looked at my eyes too & asked lots of questions. He said straight away Gallstones. He filled in a card for a scan. The appointment will come through to my house in a couple of days he said. Then if gallstones show - which he was certain they would, they will do surgery without a doubt. What a lovely doctors it is here. Just like Doc Martin's surgery, but much more caring. As i was having what I'd call a decent pain free day, we went into Lampeter then & then to Aberaeron & back along the coast, calling at the Millhouse Bakery for a drink - as I was so thirsty. Hubby had a cake. I didn't be grudge him that. It's a bland diet for me I'm afraid, but had a nice trip out. GOt a slight twinge now, but nothing I can't cope with. So relieved that I went the doctors though. That was a big thing for me! Emma.x

Purplemaniacs
Glad you went to see the doctor, I hope your appointment for the scan comes through quickly. Glad you have had a reasonabley pain free day today. Take care of yourself. Chrissie
Bramble
That sounds like huge progress, well done on going to the doctors, I avoid them at all costs too!! This will probably sound a bit daft, but don't ignore the pain relieving qualities of a good hot bath - it really can help a lot, even if its just short term, trust me!!! Good luck and keep us posted with how you get on!
Cinnamon
Thats good. Just to warn you - I found the scan very uncomfortable indeed - did the Doctor not give you some decent pain killers to take? (I got Coedine) This is almost exactly what happened to me,but luckily the scan itself seemed to budge the stones & I got away with not having to have surgery, although I am certain they will raise their ugly heads again some time. Chatting around,Gall Stones are incredibly common

craftyhunnypie
Aw thanks everyone. The Doc said it would be a scan like a pregnant woman would have. So not sure if it will be ultrasound, or a CT scan ( like a polo mint). Making the most of my reasonably pain free time! Emma.x
Seagazer
I seem to remember a few years ago that my uncle had his gallstones zapped with something like a sonic something or other (obviously my technical medical term ) so it may not be surgery straight away. He had his gallbladder removed last year. I hope you get your scan through quickly.
Space Chick
Mine was an ultrasound scan when my gall bladder sludge was diagnosed. (Gall bladder sludge is like thousands of tiny gall stones, that act like wet sand apparently )
