Goosey Lucy
I'd second Patricia's advice and go straight to the Secretary. They're usually lovely and can at least give you a timescale of when to expect a letter and maybe how quickly you can expect an appointment. Sorry you're feeling so dreadful, keep taking the painkillers and if your body is telling you to sleep, then listen to it. Lucy x
LolaLayla
I agree with calling the secretary. It will certainly do no harm and possibly progress things. So sorry that you are feeling poorly. It is horrid when you cannot get on with life Hoping that you feel better soon.
Cheeky Chooky
Oh you poor girl *hug* Definitely chase things up a bit...let them know just how poorly you've been lately and fingers crossed they'll pull their fingers out and get your procedure brought forward *hug*
bottledcherryangel
Poor you. I think you should speak to the secretary at the first opportunity and stress that your symptoms are no better, in fact they are worse.
lindafw
I am sure your DH is more concerned about getting you better than that he has to take on your chores. You would be like that if the situation was reversed So sleep when you need, rest up, drink lots of fluids and read or listen to the radio when you are bored. Hope your letter comes soon x
craftyhunnypie
Thanks everyone! Back in the land of the living so far today! Phew. I feel half human again! Felt so rubbish the last few days! However, didn't feel too bad last night. Hubby was worried about lack of food in me - so he made me eat some cabbage & some boiled potatoes in their skins - just to get a bit of goodness in me. Hooray I was ok with it! Had a good nights sleep too amazingly. So feeling quite good today. I managed to finish my patchwork homework - ready for craft class next Saturday - when we do the applique bit. Now I'm catching up on a few emails & will hopefully do a bit of spinning later. Yesterday, I got a letter from the hospital - but it wasn't with a date. It was telling me to phone up for an appointment to suit me! Arrgh! So first thing tomorrow morning I will be phoning the hospital to book it! Have found Apple juice a saviour! Have read about a flush thing I can do - sounds disgusting. Includes epsom salts, olive oil etc. But if my appointment is ages off - I will give it a go. Got slight pain in right shoulder blade - but nothing as bad as it has been. I can't take any pain killers at all - they just make me sick. A nice soak in the bath is the most pain relief I can have. I have to be careful about what I plan at the moment - as never know if its going to be a good day or bad day. I want to drive & meet my family for the day - or suss out some places round here. Friday - when I felt so so - we went into Aber. Was ok until we decided to go Lidl. Pain started & I panicked incase I was sick. Managed to get 4 fruit bushes though! Got home - flopped straight on the bed, 10 minutes later was sick. Then I zonked & woke up about 7pm. Tea tonight may be the same - cabbage, potatoes & I might try a Quorn fillet - as it is bland. I'm avoiding meat at the moment. Emma.x

Chickendoodle
When I was diagnosed with gallstones a nutritionist advised me to take apple cider vinegar - can't remember the exact dose but it was something like a tablespoon in warm water. I imagine it is just a stronger form of apple juice (obviously the expensive apple cider vinegar, not the one you give to horses and chickens ) Had my gallbladder removed and haven't looked back. It was 8 years ago though and perhaps they use the procedure you are due to have more often now? Hope they get it sorted soon.
craftyhunnypie
Got hospital appointment this coming Friday morning. I'm not sure if it is for the procedure or just a chat with the consultant. The lady on the phone did say the appointment was with the consultant & his team. Should get a letter before Friday - if not I will ring, because if it's the procedure I've got to fast. I've got to fast tonight too - as got a fasting glucose test in the morning at the docs. I'm a guinea pig!! Think they are just testing everything. Fasting isn't a problem though - as no real appetite. Emma.x
Janty
I know that it's easy to say but I have been through similar to you over the past fifteen months. The doctor said to me that my pains were classic gallstone pains. I was sick, doubled up with pain and crying when it got bad. However, on the initial scan, you couldn't see my gallbladder as my liver and kidneys were so enlarged. I had to have one of the large doughnut scans and they discovered that I have polycystic liver and kidney disease. I went into hospital last week to have lots of the cysts drained and taken away. I was petrified but one week on I feel very sore, very black and blue but totally without the sickness, pain and general rottenness that I felt for such a long time. Bear with it. Push them if the operation date takes too long and keep going back to your GP so that he/she can write letters to hurry things up. Best wishes Jan
Groovychook
Best wishes on Friday Emma Janty, hope you're feeling better soon... must've been a miserable time for you xx
kinsk
I haven't read the whole thread so excuse me if I repeat things. My husband has gallstones and used to suffer terribly with incredibly painful attacks, but is very reluctant to have an operation to have his gallbladder out and the specialist said that the laser treatment rarely has much success. Apple juice is good but it needs to be the cloudy fresh stuff, anything else will not have any effect. The olive oil flush thing you talk about does not work. Magnesium tablets definitely work and he really notices a difference if he runs out and doesn't take them for a week or two. Cut out processed foods, this includes white bread, all shop bought biscuits etc. He can eat homemade bread, muffins, biscuits, pastry etc. but shopbought stuff is almost guaranteed to trigger them off. Make changes to reduce as much fat in your diet as you can, skimmed milk, if making sauces use half fat creme fraiche, extra mature cheese so you use less but still get flavour. etc. But when using fats, use proper, unprocessed fats, a small amount of butter agrees with him much more than the plastic alternatives. he can now get away with eating things that would previously have had him rolling around but he knows he has to manage what he eats before and after so he can get away with it. craftyhunnypie
We don't eat processed foods & we eat hardly any fat at all. I would not risk cheese in any shape, form or strength. I've taken to a vegetarian diet. Hope you're feeling your normal self again Janty! Emma.x
Janty
Thanks Emma. Hope you get back to your normal self very soon too. It's a rotten pain and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
craftyhunnypie
Had a really great day today. No pain & lots of energy! So I pulled on my wellies, put on my hi Vis jacket & went trapsing over the fields to my Veg patch - that Sid the old fella helped me dig & fork etc. Sid was there! We loosened the soil again together & put in the Lidl Fruit bushes ( Gooseberry x2 & Raspberry x2). He told me what I need to do with my spuds. Don't put in til end of the month. We planned a few other things to go in. I planned my flower / butterfly & bees patch. Then we stood chatting about nature, the mountains, walks & the old days. He's 80 this year! I think he likes my company! I then came back home & had tea ( lettuce, tomato, cucumber & boiled spuds) I cleaned little Tippex the silkie chick out. I took the rubbish & recycling down the track, brought in the coal & logs & did a bit of spinning. I shut the chooks in then quickly planted 3 shrubs at sunset in the front garden. ..A Hebe, a Hibiscus & a Rose. Feeling really chuffed that I got done what I wanted today. Next good day - I'm putting my dahlias etc in. Emma.x
Patricia W
Fantastic! I thought about you today- and Lewis. I travelled from Cardiff to Llandridnod Wells by car today (for work) and was envying you living in such a lovely place as Wales. Don't do too much though. craftyhunnypie
If anyone's ever over my way, don't ever pass by...pop in for a brew! I think I have quite a high pain threshold, but I wouldn't wish the pain I get from this on anyone! I never thought such pain existed & I don't even have anything that bad. Some people have far worse things wrong with them & severe intense pain that I just can't imagine! I can now symapathize more with those people. Seagazer
I'm glad you had a good day, it makes all the difference. You do have my sympathy with the gallbladder pain, I can remember my mum being really ill with it and in so much pain.
craftyhunnypie
My mum is coming over tomorrow & staying for a few days. The rest of my family - dad, sister, little nephew & baby niece are visiting us on Saturday ( due to dad working). Yay - looking forward to it! Had another good day today - not as much energy as yesterday though. As well as my family all coming to see me - I think they are coming because they are genuinely worried about me. Especially mum & dad. Mum gets upset when I tell her I am in pain & sick. But my dad is a super worrier. His mum ( my nana) had her gallbladder out, got pneumonia through neglect & died. So I can fully understand why he is so worried, even though cleanliness & care these days is much much better. Poor dad. So long as I'm ok & it's just a consultation rather than procedure on Saturday, I'm taking mum to my craft group with me Saturday morning. She will love it. Was meant to be going the Spinning Guild too, but have cancelled that. Emma.x
Purplemaniacs
I hope you have another few good days so that you can enjoy your time with your family. I hope your Mum and Dad can be reassured and helped to not worry so much, although having said that my Mum never stopped worrying about me even when I was grown up, married and with two children, she always said she would worry about me, the worries just changed as I grew up I hope you have a lovely few days and your appointment goes well and gives you some more answers. craftyhunnypie
Went hospital today. Thank goodness they didn't do ECRP procedure. Saw the consultant who pressed on my abdomen & looked at my records & doctors blood test results. He said that he is sending me straight for keyhole surgery for my gallbladder to be removed & is marking it as urgent & that I could come in for my op at short notice. He said it was mainly as I'd had bad jaundice during my attacks. Feel better that I'm going to get sorted soon. Had to have more blood tests today & a match & save bllod done - incase a transfusion is needed during surgery. My flippin arm is a bit bruised now. I'm not a wuss, but it has bruised. Come away with lots of info on the operation. Emma.x
