Yup, although it's brightening a bit here... It's like someone has left the shower on mild though; it's 9deg out there and reached 13deg yesterday.

I just spoke to our Cardiff office and one of their directors was supposed to be going up to Leeds on the train, the trip is now by coach as the line is flooded... the coach is running late as it's had to divert due to flooding

5 min walk each way to and from lunch and got soaked despite a golfing brolly. There's an alarming amount of standing water on the roads, and blocked drains. News on the radio at lunchtime said that we can expect this 'until the weekend' Boulders!

I can actually see a strip of blue sky on the horizon and the rain has eased a little enough for me to go to see the paddling chooks and grab some herbs from the garden.

 

There is so much standing water in the pig field next to our house, I haven't seen it that bad for years.

Just had a text from ED in Bristol and she says that the sun is now shining there, so hopefully it is on its way here, it is certainly a lot brighter now.

Sun. Hmmm, what is that? It has been pitch black, well nearly, all day here. We seem to on amber/yellow alert for the next few days according to the MET office for either rain or wind or both. Oh, joy!

Well, someone's turned the tap off and it looks brighter... thank goodness.

It was very dark at school today especially at lunchtime, it felt like home time and it rained all day.

 

On the way home the sun was just setting and it was giving a very orange light.

 

Lots of water on the roads though, its a shame I have to go out again to a meeting, I fancy staying at home in the warm

It cleared just in time for a lovely sunset.

Was very weird driving home at 4.45 today - the sky had just cleared and was a beautiful navy and orange, reflecting off all the flooded fields. The heavy grey sky all day had convinced me it was going to rain all week!

It was only momentary but beautiful nonetheless.

 

Some clear now and getting quite cold, the roads will be treacherous if we have a frost. A house at the bottom of our hill had a fire tender outside and they were pumping water out of their basement; those houses are inclined to flood as they were built (1895) over an underground stream The river is very high and as it takes about 24 hours for the waters to reach us, I reckon that it might go over tomorrow... at any rate it will test the new flood defences.

Same here, we've had some rain already though. Quite a bit of flooding in the town centre or so I hear.

We've had bucket loads of rain here for the past few days. Gales overnight and this morning.

It's raining again too.

It's so windy here that one of the sash windows here is rattling

 

Floods...

 

I was at that sports centre yesterday evening, parked right by the barrier on the middle of the right hand side of the photo; at that stage the river was 3' or so off breaching. Looks like the new flood control system didn't work again then they only spent millions on it and caused endless havoc hereabouts The arts centre near there is closed and levels are set to rise again with more rain coming through this afternoon and tonight.

Its refreshing here today ... The wind is blowing, its bright and cheerful and mild. Its the sort of weather I like to be out walking in.

Blowing a gale here. The fence between ours and the neighbours is down. Again. Fortunately it's their responsibility. The tarps on the WIR were flapping about so have tethered them down. Again.

Phil's just called to say there's a tree down on the single track which runs past their farm drive; it's not their land so he's called the police as it's blocking the road and no hope of shifting it. No more rain here yet but the sirens have been kicking off most of the afternoon.

I have been out cleaning out the chooks this afternoon and it has certainly blown the cobwebs away. It is quite mild but looks like heavy rain any moment. I have filled up with logs in the house and the fire is burning nicely, so I am about to close the curtains and hope that it will all be better by tomorrow.
