Groovychook
We've switched between hot and very humid, and sharp showers today. Think we've got a couple of rainy days ahead of us- hoping for some more high pressure before the end of August!
The Dogmother
The air pressure is well down this evening so I'm expecting rain. Happily, I got the washing dry today though. 17deg at the moment and quite balmy.... lovely evening.

abwsco
We've just had horrendous rain with some flooding. Nipped out just as it started Was out in flip flops and had to change into my trainers in the car. Jeans are wet through but at least I know my waterproof jacket for golf works. Would have put on the trousers if I'd have known it was going to be so bad Ended up walking through really deep water just to get to the chemist. Road where DH works is flooded. Sure half the problem is that all drains are no longer routinely cleared out by the council. Oh, and morons still driving around as if the roads aren't flooded. The Dogmother
I sympathise about the land drains Anne; we live on a hill and unless someone phones up the highways department to get the drains jetted when they are blocked, the water runs down the hill when we have a torrential downpour like this and the houses at the bottom get flooded. That must be a nightmare At least we are on the flat here. Think I may complain about the drains though assome of the roads were ridiculous. Some of the pointing did get washed out on Monday night as well on the house with all the rain so DD's boyfriend is going to have to redo parts which is a pain for him
Purplemaniacs
OH has just come back from Bedford way. He had to stop, the rain was so heavy and the roads so wet he decided that it was too risky and pulled over and waited for the conditions to improve. He never stops, it must have been bad and he was in the 4x4 too. We have had some heavy but short showers here and it did go very dark before one of them, rumbling in the distance but no thunder close by so far Chrissie

Lesley
Thunder, lightening, torrential rain, floods.. the lot! Air pressure down even further too We were in Chipping Norton and it was so dark it was like 6pm in December.....but warm. The roads were flooded and we drove through floods and thunderstorms most of the way home. We were so glad we'd made it back to the car before the heavens opened. The sun is out here now and it's a lovely evening!

Valkyrie
Cloudy today but I thought it felt fairly humid. We have had some sun, but in tiny doses. Yesterday I went to visit my mum, caught a bit of rain in Basingstoke, by the time I reached Andover it was very heavy. Then I just got over the hill (I'm feeling that in more ways than one nowadays) and my heart sank - I can't even begin to describe the sky and cloud covering Warminster. It almost looked like something from a horror film - a black blanket (ooh yes if you watch Supernatural it was like that - or in Lost). Scary - you betcha! Although horror films don't worry me, but you get the drift! Thankfully it held off until I got inside her house and the heavens opened. She's petrified of storms and it looked like it would - but not one rumble!!! I lost track of time and had a sunny drive home. We did have one distant rumble of thunder at midnight on Monday, but luckily nothing more.
