Well the first two pics were taken yesterday, the garden chair one prob about a month ago. If you saw my back garden!!! Waterlogged and chooks turned a huge area under my washing line + where their houses used to be into what I can only describe as mud porridge!! They have a whale of a time scrabbling in that but major drainage needed for next year! Have to go out shortly as late home tonight and have a funny feeling two chooks may be back in the willows. We had hailstones earlier + temps are due to plummet........have to check and remove said chooks if needed to a house!....

Quite funny this am as chooks were agog with the inch on snow that covered everywhere! The Brahmas looked like they were walking on the surface of the moon, not sure but by lunchtime all was ok when they figured it wasn't dangerous, just different! Mrs Wyandotte stuffed herself under a New Zealand flax in disgust and the garden chair was much in use to keep tootsies of the ground and preen.

The 'chair' is my view out of the kitchen window but now looks very bare as most of the leaves have fallen. All snow gone now due to monsoons late afternoon. They got warm water with apple cider vinegar to ward of any chills. I am just pleased to go a few weeks now with no losses after a bad run of a few months and seem to do a head count daily as know how many of every colour/breed I have... :)

I once had a bench in my garden to sit and watch my chooks. Now it is very much 'their' bench and I have to be content with the window

I've been giving them warm(ish) water too and my morning porridge service has also started again. Actually I love making them porridge and they look so sweet all around the dish in flower formation :D Trouble is one of my Polands has found that standing in the middle of the warm porridge makes her tootsies warmer then she gets a strop on when the others peck her toes

Aw shucks folks, glad you enjoy the ramblings! As for treats warm or otherwise, today mine got nowt apart form hot mash and some crumbled bread this am as didn't get home at lunchtime for the corn feed so no doubt a disgruntled lot went stomping off to bed tonight! That, and the 55mph gusts of winds today so hope none were blown away!! Will make up for it tomorrow...

Near lost a silly wee chook yesterday! Noticed from kitchen window a wee dog very interested in something in the verge....then I saw a red comb and black head pop up.......eek, ran out and rescued a rhode rock who was on the wrong side of the fence and the little Lhasa apso about to 'er, play with her'!! Poor chook had flattened herself resigning herself to her fate. Picked her up and checked over and apart from a bald chest and tum (due to moult) she was fine....phew.

Final run of fence by roadside to be completed in next few days so should be no more escapees. Have one wee brown chook called Katie (my fav greedy and friendly hen) who faithfully escapes through the old bit of stock fence and toddles of next door to lay her egg daily. Really hope my neighbour is taking note and enjoying the eggs of there will be a stash of about 200 of them now somewhere in a pile.....not for much longer!!

Ha1 Like I was doing the fencing, er nope! A nice man is doing that for me. No way would I be sinking 8 ft posts in concrete. Katie is still escaping daily and pottering in the nice long grass in the verge, but is always back after a wee while. The others are aghast as her carry on, but probably a bit jealous too, daring to leave the fold.

Apart from that all are hale and hearty so nothing new to report in chicken ramblings. Not been on for a while as all is normal here and going well (scared to tempt fate). Still trying to take a pic of the wee raven with the turquoise earlobes but she evades me at every turn!

Shabby Chic.....did Urban chickens take you on or are they doing 'more checks' on you yet before they allow you to peruse their forum......... ??

What a night! Chooks all ok but one nest box lid ripped off plus quite a few of my own slates. Lots of snow now. Managed to find a board and wedge it with a chair for temp nest box lid. Have a two yr old is a moulting and hunched up most displeased about it (don't blame her in this weather!) Closed them all in at 6pm tonight and noticed the dogs very interested in my back door around 8pm.....had a look and nearly died to find the moulting isa huddled by the door in the snow! Picked her up to warm her for a bit and then put her with the others. Hope she will be ok. One lucky wee chook and clever wee dogs... :D

Does any of those more tech minded know how to get a pic from an iPad to a posting??

What a wonderful thread this is. Yes I know how to get the photos from an ipad, took me a while though. Still don't know how to do avatars though. If you go to the top if the chickens posts you will see a thread about photos. I put a couple of messages on there. I use photobucket. Don't put anything private on there because anyone can see your photos. Let me know if you don't gave any luck.

I've gone from 3 cooks to 12 in a short time, could easily end up with more. :D love it
