heth1986
If not it looks like i may have an early Christmas present! A lovely man has just knocked on my door with a pretty little chicken in tow, found on Hollinspring... Not one of my girls but she(?) is absolutely beautiful. I've taken her off his hands as he is not a chicken person and didn't have a clue what to do with her. I think she might be a young laced wyandotte but I'm not sure, I'll try and get a picture of her... Edited to include picture (hopefully)... chicken by heth1986, on Flickr Is she a she and is she a wyandotte? Sorry for the lighting, she was eating by candle light. Well. Torch light. redsunset
I'd be well happy if she had flown into my garden.......but that would be some trek. Hope you get to keep her if no owner found.

Luvachicken
Very pretty. Do you know if she is definitely a girl yet ? I hope you get to keep her
heth1986
Well, no news of an owner yet although i haven't been in all day. Luvachicken, I've no idea how to tell if she's a he to be honest, i think she must be quite young as she seems rather small but then i don't think I've ever seen a 'real live' wyandotte before so i've no idea! I will try and get some better pictures in the daylight and hopefully you lovely people will be able to help me... I hope she's a she as I have every intention of keeping her if she is (if I can't find an owner, she's very friendly so might be a pet) for the time being, she's called Pete (?!) because it was my dad's birthday yesterday and that's his name he's not impressed. WitchHazel
PM Redwing and ask her to sex her, she's good with Wyandottes. A pic showing the hackle and saddle feathers will help. She looks like a she to me, and she looks gorgeous.
Charlottechicken
What a beauty! She looks girly to my untrained eye! Try googling silver laced wyandotte, and you will get pictures of male and female birds, it might help. Do you think she might be a bantam if she is small? Fingers crossed you get to keep her! Oh, and I would call her Gabby.
heth1986
Thanks Witchhazel, I will PM Redwing, hadn't thought of that! In the mean time, here a few better pictures of her. I think she's a she but then i'm generally wrong! Still no idea where she's from so it looks like i'll be digging out the old coop to put her inside the WIR where the others can see her. But mine are quite mean, manic and, compared to her, MASSIVE (legbars) so she'll probably have to stay seperated for some time. Maybe I should get her a friend to keep her company chicken1 by heth1986, on Flickr chicken2 by heth1986, on Flickr chicken3 by heth1986, on Flickr

WitchHazel
It's not a good idea to introduce one chook, if you can help it, because it means the one chook will be bullied mercilessly by ALL the others. If you introduce two, the established girls have TWO to bully. I would wait until Pete is older as well, as she will be too young to defend herself. Maybe a good idea to get her a young friend in the meantime, and then introduce the two of them together? Assuming that no one claims her, of course. WitchHazel
btw, Leghorns aren't that big, so if they seem big next to her, I would guess she might be a wyandotte bantam

heth1986
She must be a banty then, even if she's young she's barely half the size of my 3 terrors... I can feel a trip to bank view farm coming on!
