Alis girls
1 Why are Easter eggs so pricey? And if I dont buy the kids one will they in years to come be telling folk they were deprived? Even bog standard are over priced - half will end up in recylce bin. 2 Wheres the weight watchers Easter egg. Us fatties like chocolate too you know thats why we are tubby 3 Why do our scales (WW ones) tell OH hes 13stone 3 and an hour later 13stone 7. Needless to say he took them back and got a different sort - not sure if lady in Argos beleived his bleatings about not putting 4lbs on in an hour 4 Why have they given out rain over BH weekend - just when I have washing to dry and gardening to do but when at work sun shines all day. 5 Why is this chair squeaking? must be my furious typing. dancing cloud
Why are there Easter eggs in the shape of penguins? Chickens and bunnies I understand, but why penguins? Why did anyone ever invent scales to weigh humans? They are a work of pure evil and should be erased from existence Why are chickens always so cheerful? Why is it taking forever to get to home-time? Happy Easter !
bluekarin
Why do I always leave the house tidying until the morning before our friends come over for lunch? It's not too bad, but it could do with a good Hoover as dog is moulting like crazy, and huge dust bunnies keep coming out from under the sofa Why did my application for the EHIC card not go through properly and my daughter needs it in one week......and they say it should be here in 10 days!! And we have several bank hols to get through Might have to get a days travel insurance - will that be as good? I do agree the Easter eggs this year are quite pricey (and have actually bought my three not cheapie eggs for the first time). I do think the selection this year is much much better than last years. I have bought my nieces and nephews £1 ones from Sainsburys, which look really nice and have interesting sweeties in them.
Alis girls
Why is the cheerful picture on the forum of a pretty woman on a sunny day, on a lovely lawn (cant be real surely) with an equally pretty hen so nice - it must sell Eglus. Come over to mine - you will see 2 hens one past its sell by date with a wonky beak (I love you Maggie-May) and a pretty RIR who lays and eats her eggs on a scruffy lawn with 3 scruffy felines. Camera over to a middleaged blond who should have been put out to pasture years ago. Would I sell Eglus to someone looking at this forum. Not likely - the punters want things which is pleasing to the eye. If you are that pretty woman - how do you get your lawn so nice?
patsylabrador
Why did we go out on the Triumph today? That wind is bitter cold, my hands actually went blue and I got a numb bum. Mind you when we saw the traffic jam on the M25 we loved the bike again. Why did we decide to do a guided tour? The guide was a very sweet old man who did everything, including talking, slowly & quietly. His group got smaller and smaller until there were only six of us but i'm not sure if he noticed. We had to stick it out because I was in hi-viz and he would of spotted me leaving I am sure.
patsylabrador
My thoughts today are also with the school children on the S.Korean ferry, Sewol. Seeing it finally slipping under the water is too sad. The hopes of their parents for some kind of miracle must be slipping away now too. Sorry to be gloomy. Angie
Patsylabrador !!! You have a triumph ? I used to have a T110 , quite an old lady but a wonderful bike. The judge gave it to my first husband in our divorce , he thought it was His being the Man, my solicitor had to correct the judge but he refused to be swayed on his decision......nasty man. I have to agree with you Easter eggs are expensive this year, but I still bought them, and a few Real Easter eggs with the story of Easter in them rather than sweets , but they are fair trade chocolate too. I don't like to see choccie bunnies or penguins either it seems wrong some how . I do like the fluffy feathery Easter chicks on sale that sit on my windowsill ( not real chicks of course) that have come with an Easter egg in a mug. I took warning of the wet weather to come and did the washing today, which I hated putting out with it being good Friday , but it is a case of needs must. And just how many shops will be Open on Sunday ? when it is supposed to be the most Holy of days? Still I'll be home eating my chocolate and things I gave up for Lent.... It feels like it has been a tough Lenten time this year, I gave up quite a few things and wished I'd stuck to just one, but I'm almost there. Happy Easter everyone
LolaLayla
Why do banks always send you letters about major problems on days they are closed, like today I have worked out that the clerk in my branch has made the mistake. Thankfully I have the receipt to prove things but it will be such a hassle to fix
patsylabrador
Angie, I looked up your old bike on google. What a lovely and stylish bike. You must have been so upset to lose it, especially under such sexist circumstances. If I win the lottery I will buy you one!
Angie
Thank you PL . I got the bike in 1977. It was in pieces in and old office block at ICI Wilton . My ExH found out who it belonged to and I bought it for £70. I had to get a van to bring it home in . It took 6 mths to rebuild . I took all the chrome to a place in Leeds and went to s"Ooops, word censored!" yards to find a few bits that were missing. It was a nice bike to work on , everything accessible and rode well. It had a nasty Kick back though if you didn't get the throttle just right on starting, took the skin off my shin a few times I can tell you. Broke my heart to lose it. Ex OH sold it and bought a new car.......the dirty rat .
Valkyrie
I have an answer to the Easter egg problem. Buy lots and make them eat the lot in one day. They'll never want another one so you are safe to buy ordinary bars of choccie - better value for money. Orrrrr - make them?
Alis girls
This morning found a snail crawling down the bedroom window. Poor fella crawling all the way up a semi - for what ? no juicy greens and blood rushing to your head. Went to Brent X to get YS's birthday pressie. Popped in La Senza to gaze in awe at the undies. They now have 4 levels of support aka as "how high can my boobs go up?" - 1 is still on your knees and 4 is up round ya ears I decided I wasnt in the mood for trying on and left. Think I am too old for up round ya ears boobs. All in all not a bad day. YS is a teen on Saturday hes already a teen in temperament - all grunts, angst and moods. Every so often I get a cuddle which reminds me why I love him.
Alis girls
Oh forgot - with all the hoo ha on Jamaica Inn and the sound - anyone in London watched it and had any problems? I believe some reception in Uk better than others. I taped it and wondered if its worth the hassle. Slightly hard of hearing and use subtitles too but just wondered if anyone bothered watching it. Cinnamon
We didn't have a problem with the sound, although I thought it was a little high on the bass & the accents were thick, but then they would be, wouldn't they? We really enjoyed it
Egluntyne
We had real problems hearing it and gave up in the end.
Angie
The sound here was garbled , didn't watch it for long, kept popping back to it but with no improvement. If the whole series was recorded on just the one mainframe sound I don't expect to here any of it. Surely they can rectify it ?
Alis girls
I love the diversity of accents but read recently that one of the older actresses in call the midwife said younger actors mumbled. She may have a point there. I use subtitles cos my hearings not great. I am trying to learn to lipread for when I'm totally mutton. Of course by then I will be partially sighted. My sence of smell is good so if the house goes on fire I will be ok
The Dogmother
I also hate poor diction in films, and will walk out if it spoils the film for me. I have partial hearing in one of my ears after a nasty car accident 25 years ago; I have taught myself to lip read when necessary.
