Chickabee
Just wanted to know if anyone else is eggless already. I've got 16 girls now. Had no eggs today. . Don't want to buy them from the supermarket, gives me the hump . Still guess I should just concentrate on making sure they're strong and healthy for next spring. gavclojak
My freeloading girls have not laid an egg for weeks. I don't hold out much hope they will ever lay again
Chickabee
I think my exbats have given up for good. Have a few thin shelled ones lately, then nothing. Still I've had nearly a year, I think they've been happy, and will continue to be
Cat tails
Between the three I think one has stopped laying. Haven't had 3 eggs in one day for some time now. More often it's just one. We'll see... They can keep laying for a bit longer if it was up to me!
mullethunter
My Wyandottes have stopped laying to moult, but one of my young Pekins has just started!
PixieDust
I gather as my girls will be about 18 weeks in middle of November, that they won't lay til Feb/March time? I don't mind if they don't.
Chickabee
If they're hybrids they might Pixiedust. Even if they're pure breds you might get a little surprise
Chickabee
Bittersweet news today. 2 eggs already this morning. However one of my exbats died in the night. Had her a year. At least she will go to chicken heaven remembering escaping from her run, making huge dust bath, terrorizing the posh girls in the WIR and digging up all the stones and putting them on the lawn to break the mower, but best of all, she got to spread her wings
mullethunter
Oh I think her high point was breaking the mower - she did this so there was more grass to eat Well done that girl
acw295
My Pekins are still at it - and they did lay most of last winter. They don't seem to know they aren't meant to Mind you at least in winter they are less prone to broodiness - in summer they have driven me crackers with it
Cat tails
They just save up all the eggs for winter!
Luvachicken
No eggs here either for ages And actually, when I think about it, I didn't get that many eggs all year. Oh well there's always next year
newcountrygirl
I am the same as you Luvachicken, I have 5 and they havent laid for weeks. Next time I am definately getting full sized girlies. These Bantams are taking the mick.
Chickabee
Well I bought a white star pullet on Friday. She's laid 2 eggs so far. My welsummer, Blubelle and one of my exbats have started laying again too. One of the others is laying thin shells, but at least she's trying. Looks like I won't have to buy eggs just yet
mullethunter
When I finally move to somewhere bigger I'm thinking about getting a couple of Hybrids for more consistent egg laying! If I got them POL do you think I'd be able to put them in with my bantams?

Cat tails
Oh no! Silly little hen! I actually had quite a good week, last week. With about 13 eggs from three little bantams! Even had three in one day, so all must still be laying.

mollyripkim
20 girls and no eggs for a week, 11 are only 20 weeks so understandable, the rest are either oldies, moulting or broody!
Valkyrie
Last one has finally stopped. I predict a garden full of lavender feathers in the near future. Everyone else is still moulting.
