Ursula123
My step daughter has just won young journalist of the year at the national awards. To say we are very proud is an understatement.

Ursula123
Soapdragon she had to submit three articles she had written for her paper in the last year. One was about the 92 year old poppy collector who committed suicide, she was being hounded by charities for donations and many believed this is why she jumped but she was ill and did not want to be a burden to her family. It was all in the national press last year and my step daughter even spoke to the prime minister about it as he called her at work, think she was quite shocked to get a call from him. The second story was about a lady who was found dead with her baby in Bristol and how the hospital had not looked after her as she was at risk. The third was about a young Muslim man who was asked to leave a national express bus, as someone complained to the driver that he had a back pack and looked like a terrorist and they would not travel if he did. We are very proud of her and she works so very hard, having just been promoted to an editorial position just three years after leaving uni. bluekarin
Well done to her! I remember all three stories, they must have been hard to write, esp the Bristol mum and her baby.

Ursula123
Thank you for your lovely comments. We are all very proud of her, and jealous as well - she is away on a press trip in a weeks time. Starting in Seattle and then taking a cruise for 7 nights whale and bear watching, helicopter and seaplane excursions all expenses paid. She then has to write a review. This is her third big press trip, the first was 4 nights in a 5* hotel in New York and the 2nd was 5 nights in Val d'isere skiing just before Christmas - I am so in the wrong line of work
