Don't leave me this waaay!!!!

Recommended Posts

I saw those on FB, made me laugh  . Don't worry, there surely won't be anybody here who likes Donald Drumpf!

My friend was in America recently and was walking past some shops when she saw this, thought of me and went in and asked if she could have a sticker. I hope it's because she knows how much I hate Donald Drumpf and not for any other reason :anxious: .

I really fear for our future too. My older two children are both in relationships with people who are either non British or first generation non British and we have no idea where they are going to settle in the future. One might have more chance of a work visa if we had a point system, but the other might have difficulty getting a job outside the UK now and he has a very specialised skill with very few job openings mostly in mainland Europe.

Our political system seems to now be imploding too which is not going to help. I am unhappy with the result, but feel that we should now be pulling together and making this work :(

I voted to remain but I think I'm most angry with successive governments that have used the EU as a scapegoat for unpopular government decisions over many years (both major parties have done that pretty much equally), that has made it difficult to separate fact from myth and also made negotiations within the EU harder. And I'm angry at an arrogant PM and government that made no attempt to understand why many decent people wanted to leave and address those valid reasons, instead they dismissed those concerns.

(The EDL and Britain First supporters and similar I'm ok with us ignoring but the successive governments should have looked at why their popularity is increasing).

Whilst I personally find him odious, Nigel Farage did warn that the leave campaign wouldn't be happy if remain won by a narrow margin. The government should have taken note and considered how divisive a narrow margin would be whoever won and had a plan and clear rules agreed with both sides before the referendum. I'm deeply uneasy about retrospectively changing the rules.

Good call Liz, I think the saying "it is what it is" is very apt! However we all voted is somewhat irrelevant now. We have taken a leap of faith and those who voted out have got what they wanted and those who didn't should thank god we live a democratic society, you might not always get what you want but there it is!

Don't get me wrong, I am terrified for a hundred different reasons but now we need to be excited for our future, come on guys with the doom and gloom we are still GREAT BRITAIN (for the moment anyway)

Unexpected consequences are popping up as time goes by - a friend's son has just graduated with an Honours degree in EU law. Thankfully he's got a place at flight school to be a pilot (clever lad!) but makes you wonder about all the graduates who have been studying EU related topics for years :( .

Some of my colleagues at RSPB Scotland are responsible for trying to secure EU funding and another colleague has literally just gone to Brussels for a year :? . Wonder how safe their jobs will be long-term.

I thought I'd be coming to terms with it now but I'm just getting crosser and crosser. And Corbyn is making it even worse. I like his principles and he is clearly a man who deeply believes in what he's doing, but what he's actually doing is giving us a one party country.

On a lighter note I listened to the commons debate today and Cameron really made me laugh. He may not be my choice but he's a good leader IMHO

Quite frankly I think you're all fretting over nothing. I think Parliament will vote against the result and Article 50 won't be implemented and I will wonder what is the point of voting.

It's starting to look to me like the whole thing was a set up by Mr Cameron who was confident that Remain would win and he'd look like a wise and generous statesman.

The country is divided, bigots believe they have some sort of mandate to be violent and it's my guess it was all for nothing, just a disastrous, costly trick by the government.

That's how I'm feeling today.

I've gone off Britain a bit over the last few days.

That IS interesting.

I believe Brexit could have worked and I was excited about opportunities outside the EU but I don't think I'll get to find out.

I also think the most dishonest politicians in both camps are the Conservatives and as a lifelong Conservative voter that is a bitter pill to swallow. I'm not sure where my vote would go, especially if Ms May becomes leader.

Jude I think you're spot on in your assessment of David Cameron's motives

Interesting though there's been a few countries where they've had referendums on EU related ques and either ignored the result or said that's not the right result and made they go again. I was vaguely aware of some of them but hadn't taken too much notice before this referendum but would you not think a political leader promising a referendum would have spent a wee bit of time seeing how they've worked out in the past for other countries
