not a rant but a tribute!

Recommended Posts

you know when you just have something inside that you have to get out? Those who've posted rants will know what I mean ;)

Well, I don't have anything to rant about but I do have something that needs to be said, so I'm claiming my little piece of the forum to have my say! ;)

To my fantastic husband who I don't deserve...

We've been together for 17 years this Christmas eve (we shared our first kiss on Christmas eve 1990)

he took me for driving lessons and helped me pass my test in 1991

he puts up with my fiery temper

he does far more than his share of domestic 'stuff'

he looked after me for months when I shattered my radial head and had to have pins in my arm and couldn't use my left arm and was in agony. He washed me, helped me get dressed, made all my meals and did everything in the house, despite working full time!

he makes me laugh constantly with his brilliant sense of humour.

he's supported me financially and emotionally, despite me being a right pain in the backside most of the time!

he takes me to and from doctors appts and hospital appts and holds my hand when I need him to ;)

He married me last July, even after knowing me for 16 years and knowing what he was letting himself in for! ;)

he makes my life fun and interesting and there's never a dull moment.

he humours me and all my little foibles.

for all the things you do for me and for all the years you've (not had to) put up with me...

Dear 'long suffering husband', I think you're the best thing since sliced bread and I love you more than this posting could ever say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(you can all feel free to puke now! ;)

:)

Well after nearly 17 years ourselves (16 years and three months so far to be exact), and after four pregnancies and births and post natal hormonal madness and all that, although I don't think I'm a difficult person to live with (I have my moments, but am usually quite easy going), and although he is the one who can be a little hard to live with at times (again not most of the time), all I must say is that both he and I are looking forward to our next 16 years, and the next, and the next, and the next.... and it's a lovely, wonderful feeling...

What a lovely post Poet!

CTB and I have been married nearly 14 years and I always told him I would accept nothing less than 100% devotion - so far he's doing ok

He works a 14 hour day and still comes home and cooks the dinner (even though I've been home since 3pm) and he even washes up afterwards.

He keeps the bathroom clean and polishes the taps every day.

He always offers to do the housework.

He services mine and DS's cars without complaint.

He buys me surprise pressies.

He does all the food shopping on his day off so I dont have to cos he knows how much I hate it.

He made the chicken run without batting an eyelid and didnt even make it an excuse to go and buy another power tool

He doesnt mind how much money I spend or what on.

He is coming to the Maldives with me next year even though he hates the heat.

All in all I think I've got hime well trained

he sounds like my kinda guy Laura! :D

I always think, "what did I do to deserve you?!" and that line from the song in 'The Sound of Music' comes to mind....

"...somewhere in my youth or childhood, I must have done something good" ;)

OMG, I don't know what's wrong with me today, I'm not normally this soppy!

wonder if The Sound of Music will be on this Christmas? I love that film.

for goodness sakes!! :shock::shock:

What I want to know is where you got your men from, obviously a different department than the one I looked in! I think I went in with all the requirements as above, but I got, rather good looking, good sense of humour, handy round the house (when he isn't too busy doing DIY for friends, family, mates, etc) (and when he isn't fed up of DIY from the previous mentioned plus fitting kitchens all day long at work), I went for sociable and got sociable but frequently pickled, when his good sense of humour becomes ridiculous and he thinks he's really funny, I went for good Dad and got FANTASTIC Dad, I went for good with money and got good at spending it, but then good at juggling it when I overspend or accidentally cock up the budget (again!) I went for patient, and got tolerant of hormonal highly strung outbursts in association with selective deafness.

I suppose actually, I didn't do too bad after all, considering he went for Claudia Schiffer x Nigella Lawson and got Big Bird crossed with Mrs Beeton crossed with rottweiller! Oh well, seven years down, onwards and upwards!!

Very Good Mrs B. Having clocked your photo I should think he'll be more than happy to be seen in public with you!

I just went for own teeth, own hair, no baggage and most importantly GSOH

I got what I ordered.

After a few false starts, I am more than happy with mine - perhaps it's because we don't live together :D Could do with working on getting out of bed in the morning (eh, Lesley? ) and being more financially solvent though

To be honest, he was very brave to take me on - I came with more than enough baggage and a psychotic ex too

I probably moan more than what I praise my hubby but he is a little gem.

He's very hardworking, never had a day off sick in his life (unlike me  ), he hardly ever moans (unlike me  ). We have been together 14 years and married for 11. A VERY HAPPY marriage, no arguements (just disagreements) and we have lots and lots of laughs.

We both have the silliest sense of humour and I believe 1 key to a happy marriage is to laugh a lot - which we do!!! :D:D

We are the best of friends also, and I tell him everything...we talk a lot.

ditto, he is my best friend and the saner/more grounded one in the relationship. I'm a bit "do it now, think about the consequences later" so we make a good team!

Without me he'd never take any risks (like buying our house which WAS a good decision, despite having to sell cars to get deposits and eating corned beef hash for months because we had no money etc) and without him I'd probably have gotten myself in lots of precarious situations!

It's lovely to hear other people saying nice things about their hubbies too. Too often they are much maligned. Sometimes they deserve it I admit, but still ;)

Now, you see we are completely the same.....VERY spontaneous and impulsive - neither of us think about the consequences..which isnt a good combination!!!! (but its fun  )

One prime example (and their are many) is we went to buy plug sockets in "town" and ended up buying a new landrover car !!!!:lol::lol:

Great thread by the way.

we've been known to do stuff like that, impulse buys are allowed if you needed the item anyway ;)

even as I type, he's on his way to Asda (after a shift at work) to pick up dinner, then he's picking up my prescription and when he gets home he'll clean the girls out. I will of course make him a coffee, make dinner, tell him I love him ;) and hope he doesn't read this thread (however, I know he will, he likes this site too) cos I'm dead embarrassed now!:oops:

I'm so glad there are some other women out there who have amazing husband like I have! I always rush to the defence of men in general when I hear women saying that all men are ******** . Mine is amazing. He married me even though I had a long term illness, he wanted kids (which I was worried about doing as I have ME and would need a lot of help) He said that he would change all the nappies and get them up in the middle of the nights for me to feed them - He did. He got in trouble with my mum's cousins for changing a nappy at a family party, because their wives will moan about how useless they were when their kids were little. He does way more than his share of child care and house work and is generally amazing.

Hurrah for lovely blokes :D

ditto, I can't have kids as it would be very dangerous for me to be pregnant. We were looking into the prospect of adoption before I got ill recently, that's now on hold indefinitely. which I feel awful about because I know how much he would love to have children. I think he desrves a medal! ;)

We have a fabulous niece to dote on though, she turned 1 in November and is now walking, she's an absolute joy, and we can give her back when she wears us out! ;)

Hurrah for lovely blokes :D

yup! :)

:):) I love corned beef hash, maybe not for months though  When we first bought this house, 24 yrs ago  we were totally broke and ate rice and bits for weeks. Rice and bits recipe: Take rice put bits of whatever you

have on it, and eat it

I wasn't looking for a partner when I met DH, didn't really want one, had one ex husband and didn't require another nightmare in my life  then 34 yrs ago DH walked into my life and never walked out again :) we've had many ups and downs, but we are best friends and if there is such a thing as a soul mate, he is mine :) just wish the annoying man would switch his mobile on when he goes out :roll::roll:

My OH is lovely. He's rubbish at DIY and doesn't really help around the house but he makes a lovely curry on a Saturday night, is a great dad, has the same sense of humour as me and we very rarely argue. I just wish he wasn't the same weight now as he was 20 years ago when we met - I'm not  .

wouldn't mind a pm with the curry recipe if you have time? ;)
