The Weather Thread #2

Melting like mad here and the councils are taking the snow away by digger and lorry from craigellachie, dufftown and rothes - aberlour has been missed out so far!.

I also got over to my sons house to-day - first time in 10 days and had to dig up to my knees worth of paths to get to the front door - the house seems fine so I can take the cat back tomorrow as he is home then sometime and he will be glad to be back home again!.

Still up to the welly boot tops outside in the garden though and its bringing the rhone pipes off roofs when it eventually comes off with a thud!.

Been glorious here today, temp up as far as 8C at least!

DH & DS built the (cube orange) - by is it bright in the sunshine!! Got the (green eglu) cleaned out (but did refrain from a pressure wash!!) for a friend to borrow to house his new chooks, also cleaned out the (cube lilac) . Hopefully it'll be dry enough to do the (blue eglu) tomorrow, I did empty it yesterday, just didn't wash it down as the batties faff around in & out all day & I think they are unimpressed at having their boudoir rearranged too often!!

Finger's crossed we can get the big run at least started tomorrow  !!

Hi

Those so called met men said only a 10% chance of rain for the Fylde well we would say more like 25% but it was milder than we have had it was + 3 degrees.

Any how we were able to sort out the garden and divide it into two, so that the plants that are early starters have a chance to grow without a bit of light pruning :!:

Baby managed a bit of free ranging but came to Ian when she needed help which was lovely to see.

How has the weather been for you today wherever you live in the world?

Best regards

Ian & Valerie

Stunningly beautiful day here, sunny and blue skies, its cold and there is still shed-loads of snow on the ground though.

I spent most of the afternoon pottering about the chicken run, cleaning everything out in a leisurely way and chatting to the girls :D

A Saturday well spent :D

Garden still covered in snow - cannot get to it to see plants far less dig the plots. The snow has shrunk as we had rain and higher temps overnight and to-day its windy and dry and not too bad - cleaned out the girls and the corrugated plastic run cover has slipped with the weight of the snow and so there was a gap in the middle so had to remove the rest of the snow and sort it.

Got sons cat home this morning and he screamed the whole way over - had to go via the long route due to the snow on ben rinnes road. I was glad when we reached the house as I was fed up hearing him. He enjoyed being home and wanted out -but he still has to stay in till Iain comes home tonight or tomorrow morning.

Most of our snow has gone nowa nd yesterday was beautiful; I really enjoyed cleaning out all the animals for the first time in ages.

The garden is stil boggy.

Yesterday it was -3deg when I got up, today it was +3deg, so a slight difference and it's so nice not to feel stiff with cold. We took the hound for a lovely long walk, then she needed a shower when we got back as she was filthy up to her eyeballs with caked on mud! One exhausted dog now sleeping in the kitchen 8)

Wet grey morning and the snow is really shrinking fast - can see paths now and some plants - poor old daffodil leaves are funny shapes with being under the snow and the snowdrops just pop up again. The girlls dont like this weather and shelter under the trees - its been bad for them as they want to free range but everywhere was snowy or wet!.

Flooding on some roads and water lying everywhere.

We were away over the weekend but apparently the weather was lovely here. I was  for no frost... so worried about the girls water but thankfully our lovely friend came round at 8am on Sunday morning to check on them for us... phew!

Cloudy start today and cool at 2 degrees but I can see a few patches of blue! :)

Yesterday was very nice. The snow has now melted from the garden although there are still quite a lot of white drifts on farmland around Basingstoke along the M3. When I took mum home last night the temperature was reading 6 degrees with a clear sky. Looking at the car it looks like frost, but the temperature reading on the weather station is 5 degrees, so probably heavy dew. I am up early because I was too hot and thirsty!! Must be a heatwave then!
