The Weather Thread #2

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone

We are beginning to think that where we live is a complete different part of the world instead of a part of the UK.

Whilst everyone else has had snow, ice and floods here in Preesall near Blackpool in Lancashire it has been cold but again we have had wall to wall sunshine a temperature of round about 5 degrees.

Hope the rest of the UK is having a better time.

How has the weather been where you live either in the UK or the rest of the world?

Best regards

Ian & Valerie

Flipping freezing here :(

-14c when Andy went to work yesterday morning at about 5am. This morning at 6.30am the themometer in the mini bus which takes some of the staff into work was registering a temp of -17c  The doors on my car and the Eglu doors were frozen this morning and it took me ages to get them open.

I am frozen right through and have lit the kitchen fire and the fire in the living room, the storage heaters are on as well.

A short snow storm when I was driving home this afternoon. A very grey sky now.

The flooded fields and our field ditch are frozen solid.

We had terrible black ice problems around here this morning, even the main roads were lethal. There were 2 serious accidents on different stretches of the A40

Walking to school was scary, the pavements were bad enough but the roads were worse and everytime anyone pulled into park they slid in sideways

Definitely getting away lightly up here in the North West.

There hasn't been any snow for two weeks and just a little remains in the fields.

Has been cold though and the grass in the garden has suffered. One bank is now just moss.

One upside to all this weather is that the garden experts are predicting a proper spring flush of flowers rather than the early blooming in spurts producing no overall spring bloom.

Snow still around here, but frosty overnight nice and sunny at the moment. Last night went up to London. On the M25 there were signs "Gritting in progress" - we didn't see any signs of grit or a lorry doing the work. But there was a gritter at the Chiswick flyover - making a lovely little Chesil Beach design where it was stuck at the traffic lights. Then there was no evidence of gritting anywhere else and none on the way home either. Lovely night, super huge moon. But lots of accidents reported on the local news because of black ice. Hope Paola's OK - her area got a mention with regard to flooding and ice.

Ali we had those temperatures for 2 days and nights - terribly cold it was but now its better and yes all the heatings were on for days. The snow is still not shifting and the cats wont go out as no where for them to go.

Personally I am sick of people coming in saying how awful it is when they have moved up from england to a really remote place like tomintoul which if bad weather will always be really bad. They shoudl check things out beforehand. Just because its been warm winters for 20 years does not mean the end of our severe winters. Sorry rant over!. All I can say is roll on summer and hopefully we will get a good one this year.

Mind you looking out in the sunshine to-day with the snow on the hills is fabulous.

Still snow in the shade, getting cold now (as if it was warm earlier, hah). Had a smattering of rain but not much - enough to ice up the roads though. But the good news is that my unwanted ponds are beginning to drain away even if the rest of the lawn is squishy. The moss is looking very healthy!

Beautiful photo! - I'll get my hiking boots on.........

We're fed up with snow and ice as well.

No new snow but we still have a lot lying, and sheet ice underneath it :( We had a massive hail storm yesterday just as we were trying to collect the eggs.

We're due some more sleet/snow this afternoon and icy conditions tonight :(
