Any news?

 

The only way I knew my little one had hatched was when I saw a bit of egg shell had been pushed out. Didn't hear any cheaping at all until the chick was out from under mum Hope it all goes well

My OH and THREE colleagues just popped over to see the progress! So I just lifted Henrietta up a teeny bit and we could see a lovely little soggy looking chick under her 'she' (we hope) was cheeping away! So lovely.

 

No sign of anything happening on the other eggs yet. Heres hoping for more eh. But if I only have one I'll be happy.

Well, I had my camera ready, but OH said, peeping was one thing, but to then flash a bright light in her face when she's only 2 hours old might be a bit much. So we are going to wait a bit I'm afraid.

 

I must try not to look again until........ maybe 6pm? What do you think?

I had one hatch out of 5 but it all ended well in the end - we quickly got 4 two day old chicks and added them in at dusk, thankfully she took to them all. I can watch them for ages........ just hoping like yourself that there are a few girls in there rather than hot dinners

I peeped at 3.15pm and at 4.30pm. Shes gone all fluffy already! Shes all black and the cutest little thing you could imagine.

 

Still no progress at all on the other eggs. Do you think there is still hope? She started at 10.30am.

So exciting! my friend hatched mine for me and her dad was so excited her nicked her baby monitor to listen in and what was happening and if anymore were hatching!

Still only one . But I'm NOT checking now until 6.15 when OH gets home . She will need to have a little peek then.

Our chicks at the farm (hatched in incubators) were literally handled as they were hatching.

They would hold eggs next to the children's ears so they could hear cheeping inside (I'm not saying to do this as it can cause humidity problems, but we never had any problems ). When they'd hatched they'd be held after about half an hour and at a few hours old the children could touch them with the back of their magic finger.

 

Resulted in some very tame chickens, Babs for one

I handle them asap too, mainly because i love the feeling of their soft fluff against my cheek
