For my 11th birthday (a long way away- i've just had my 10th!!!!!), I'm thinking of getting one coloured streak at the front of my hair on the right hand side. Thing is, I can't decide WHAT colour! If this helps, my hair is browny-blondish and is just below shoulder length.

I have mousy hair with blonde highlights. I had one or two vivid purple ( I am MUCH older than you ....sigh!) streaks put in my hair for my step daughter's wedding and they have faded into a nice copper colour. I wanted blue but my other step daughter who is a hairdresser said they might fade to green.

Why don't you experiment with a few temporary hair colours, sorry mum. There are loads that just wash out.

I thinkl you are too young too so you have to be careful not to damage your hair as youll normally have to have the piece of hair bleached to take colour out before having the new colour put on.

 

Why not get a 'fake' piece of hair weaved in your own hair?

One of my daughters friends had pinkish (not bright) streaks & was sent to the detention room for the day & told to dye it back

 

My youngest girl who is 14 is going VERY red soon (if she keeps her room tidy!), on the provisio that if the school kick up a fuss,its going back to her natural shade.

I think she is using one of those Schwartzkopv new colours which are really vivid

 

Think about the colours you wear most & tie it in with that. No point doing red if you wear a lot of hot pink

I have voted not to have anything. There are other things that you can do to your hair that don't make such a statement and will be just as much fun. Why not have a really stylish cut that suits your personality.

I think you should keep your natural colour for as long as possible.

 

I have various shades of pink streaks in my hair but that's because I'm over 50 and trying to cover up the grey.

As a mother, I'd say don't do it, but I was once a rebellious teenager too and have had my hair all colours of the rainbow in the past.

 

Just remember that brighter colours, especially in the red spectrum (so red, pink and orange) fade very quickly and lose their vibrancy. The colourist who covers my white roots has such lovely colours in her hair, but she has to renew them every 2 weeks to keep the colour looking fresh.

Well I would leave it exactly as it is Holly. If I were to be pushed for an answer I'd say have a White streak put in. Only because my hair is as White as the driven snow...........

I have voted Blue, as I think its a colour that goes well with blonde/brown tones. Although, I also agree that you don't want to ruin your hair!

 

You can get coloured hairspray in places like boots, which washes out really easily, however, it does make your hair REALLY stiff. So you could go to school, have it sprayed when you get home for your evening and then wash it out before you go to bed or the next morning.

 

I dyed my hair blue for a football match last year using that spray.

My brother once died his hair red for red nose day, and when he tried to wash it out it went pink, and it was pink for about a month!

 

I chose red, but I think you should do it when you're older, my mum wont let me dye my hair either, but I guess what she says is right!

Have fun, it has to be purple - look at your avatar. Use temporary colours though then you can use a different one if you like it.

 

When my son was your age we used food colouring on his lovely blond hair for red nose day. He looked great and luckily it washed out.

The Schwartzkopz stuff is very bright! My friend-who has very dark hair dyed her hair blonde, it took two attempts (She was ginger first!) and her hair is now VERY bright!

why dont you get some of those colour hair extensions

 

the girls in the school I teach in use these a lot , they like the fact that they can change the colour on a daily basis, they are not permanent, and can have a bright colour streak in their hair on the bus on the way into/ out of school and take it out during lessons and not get into trouble for it.

 

If you are only just 10, then it will be nearly a year before you are 11, and then you will probably be starting secondary school (your hair will still be coloured by september ) you might be making problems for yourself before you get into a new school.

 

sorry for sounding like the boring teacher, but new schools are stressful enough as it is, without adding to your hassle.

As someone else said, get some hair extensions and then you can be a different colour each day.
