pepe
Any of you suffered with the storms saturday night? It was terrible here in Cornwall, I was up at 2am dragging my rablu back onto the patio even though I had weighted it down with 8 1ft sq garden slabs poor bunnies, they were fine though, I didnt get to bed until 4am! chelsea
we went to Dartmoor in our touring caravan for the weekend. big mistake! Never heard wind so scarey in all my life really really terrible (my mum said it was 100mph), it was SOOO LOUD, I thought we were gonna be picked up and whisked in the air. Me, hubby and dog didnt sleep a wink all night, I actually PRAYED (and im not religious) that we would be ok !! Also thinking about my chickens at home didnt help me sleeping either. Thank goodness they were ok Heard the Tamar Bridge was closed too.
Charlottechicken
Yes! I was woken several times during the night with the rain lashing against the windows and the wind howling down the chimneys The following morning there were lots of strange bits and pieces in the garden I can sleep through thunderstorms so it must have been bad I think other forum members in the Midlands lost electricity for several hours as well. We were OK in Birmingham, fortunately
Egluntyne
We've got scsffolding up the side of our house. You should hear the noise it makes, rattling and groaning when the wind blows. Very scary!!

Charlottechicken
Well, it has been a terrible night in Birmingham, I was woken just after 11pm by the stormy weather, and again at about 4am. Couldn't get to sleep for ages on both occasions because of the wind and rain I was just going to let the chickens out and it started raining hard again, but has now stopped, but it's too dark for me to see what damage has been done. I did notice that the towel I use to dry the Eglu, and left on the line, has gone though One of the main arterial roads in Birmingham has, according to the radio, collapsed, so I am pleased to be off work, although I was going to Walsall on the train so not sure if that is a good thing now Hope everyone else is OK
AnnieP
I didn't get a wink of sleep either Charlotte. So windy and rainy. Never mind. It all looks fairly ok outside: Have walked Rags and no immediate damage nearby, including our own trees (phew). Off to work soon.... won't be too devastated if I find my way is blocked... I could make having Tuesday's at home a habit quite easily! Hope all is well with everyone else?
Lesley
We've had another windy night though not as bad as Saturday, when we had one tree down, across the trampoline, and the pig ark went flying away and was trapped by the fence. We had a 10 hour power cut. Apparently the winds across the village we are now near were 90mph but slightly lower in the next village just 2 miles away, where our other house is. We spent all night worrying about the animals here and also whether our house in the next village would still be in one piece. We had people viewing the house on Saturday afternoon and the weather was lovely Thursday afternoon is supposed to bring the next batch of gales for us
One Man Banned
Gosh we seem to have been quite lucky at Gloucester, the one fence has moved and is resting on the tree next to the Eglu, so that's a job for me to sort out today (amongst MANY others!) - a few weeks after we moved in the entire fence on the other side came down and we had to replace it -- hope I don't have to go to my pocket again for the other side! I have a little plastic greenhouse that has been blown halfway across the garden and the garden looks terrible - leaves and rubbish everywhere. Due to all the rain we can't actually walk on the garden at all which has turned into a bog as we have clay soil and it's sodden! At work this weather is causing serious delays for flghts, particulary to Ireland with flights being cancelled or running over 2 hrs late yesterday I want nice weather!!! Andrew, only one fence will be your responsibility if you have neighbours. Each house is responsible for one boundry .........although its probably the one you replaced last year Thats the way it is for us here, anyway. One Man Banned
Unfortunately we are on the end of the close and are responsible for the fences on all sides of the property - doh! unless of course someone hits one and then I can claim it from them! We replaced the other fence with concrete posts, fitted concrete gravel boards to stop the water attacking the wood as when Barratt threw this house up they put wooden posts straight into the ground and the panels sat on the ground and simply rotted away in ten years! It also looks a lot nicer since we replaced it! A xx
Cinnamon
I bet it does Shame that all the fences are your responsibility I will keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't get too windy then!
One Man Banned
slightly off topic but Susan the cleaner (who we also bought this house from) has just been round and is amazed at the speed we've transformed the spare bedroom From bright pink with a glitter top coat to almost finished with an off white and pale yellow on one wall - it's taken an awful lot of work to get this far but the carpet fitter comes on Thursday and I have to get the second coat of gloss on the woodwork and the radiator too! At least I finished the walls today! Phew!
