So sick and tired

Recommended Posts

I am so fed up. As some of you know, I have psoriasis. I've had it for more than 20 years now (about half my life) - I've had every cream, steroid, UVA etc treatment going. I decided a few years ago just to live with it and get on with it. Then two years ago, I developed psoriatic arthritis in my hands, which has now spread to my knees, feet and elbows. I take methotrexate for it, which is a nasty drug, with horrible side effects. Again I live with it, try not to complain etc etc.

Recently, it's got worse again and my consultant at the hospital has increased the dose I'm on to beyond what he'd normally recommend. As a result I'm more sick, tired and lacking in oomph! I could just stay in bed all day long given half the chance. I'm very tearful much of the time and feel so useless. I worry about the future. If I'm like this now, what will I be like in 20 years!

This morning, I found Charlotta, my bluebelle had died and it's like the final straw. I feel absolutely terrible and would like to dig a hole in the garden, climb in and somebody fill me in!! My mum was staying with us for the night as I sang in a big concert last night, so I've come away with her for a few days to Huddersfield, my home town, and Mr Omletina will pick me up next week. I just don't think I can cope with anything at the moment.

Sorry to moan to you lot, but it's nice to know I have friends out there!!

I'm really sorry you're having such a rubbish time of things :(

My Mum & my sister both suffer from psoriasis- my sister especially so and she has psoriatic arthritis in her hands too. I know how miserable it makes her feel so I can fully sympathise with you. She has recently begun taking Milk Thistle for it and has seen some signs of improvement. I don't know whether you've tried it but it might be worth a go!

I'm very sorry to hear about Charlotta too. When you're already feeling low it's doubly hard to deal with any sadness...

Sending you lots of love & thinking of you. xxx

(((Hugs))) I know how you feel, as I have an on going conditon too (M.E), it's not very nice at the best of times, so I can empathise with you.

My Dad actually suffers badly from psoriasis also and has used pretty much all of the produts you mentioned. However he tells me that he has recently been using a new serum and it has relived a lot of the redness and dryness. He heard about it though a magazine artical, it's called Oregon Skin Care Intensive Serum. He gets it from here: http://www.skinshop.co.uk/item.asp?i=279

He says it has, so far, been the best treatment he has used.

Good luck.

Big {{{{{HUGS}}}} from me too. I suffer on and off from psoriasis as well, so I know exactly how you feel. My hands are bad just now, as is my scalp, and it's really depressing. I'm pretty sure you'll have already tried this, but I do get some relief from dead sea salt products, and even if it doesn't clear it up completely, it certainly can ease it.

Oh its a horrible thing to have - my friend has psoriasis too and it seems to drive her to despair a lot of the time but sometimes can get some relief particularly in a warmer climate!. Just being with your mum will also help you and big hugs and hope you feel better. Us mums are very useful - I am off to dublin again to be with my biggest baby who is still very very sick and only 14 weeks pregnant with a partner with flu so I am going to help out - you cannot beat us mums eh!! :D

I'm sorry to read that you're feeling so down. To be feeling so bad and then losing your bluebell seems to be the final straw (((((hugs)))))

Methotrexate is such a horrible drug. My YD (9) takes it for JIA. She used to take 6 tablets a week but they weren't working and they also made her feel really really ill. She's now on weekly injection which seems to be much better. But unfortunately one of the side affects, which you probably know, is they can make you feel depressed and change your perception of how you see things. My YD's doctor checks that she is feeling okay and that she's not having any dark thoughts. Not too sure where I am going with this - just to say I sort of know how you feel. I hope you feel a bit brighter soon after spending some time away from everything and with your mum. Lots of tea and sympathy
