Guest
what sort of fabric is it?
Joojoo
Soaking in cold water and salt is very effective but I think it depends on the fabric.
Raina
Found this http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070506220840AAF9Owf I once got blood on a blue t-shirt and used coca cola on it, i had to do it twice but it did end up coming out

SarahJo
Tend to use Vanish spray - works well esp if you let it soak for a while before washing
The Dogmother
Cold water and salt, but if it's already been through the machine on a hot wash, then that might have set the stain
Space Chick
Someone once said "If you need to get blood out of clothes, the stain is the least of your worries", that has always stayed with me
ChrisP
It's a denim material. Darn, guess I shall have to try the salt and cold water and hope for the best Space Chick, I had to think about that for a minute before I understood it The stain was indeed the least of my worries, but now is the main worry lol
Joojoo
It's a denim material. Darn, guess I shall have to try the salt and cold water and hope for the best It should work quite well on denim (you will need to soak it for a few hours) and hopefully not shrink it. Good luck
Willow
"If you need to get blood out of clothes, the stain is the least of your worries" Not if you and your children are prone to nosebleeds I have them trained to lean away from their clothes, avoid walking over nice rugs and always keep hand cupped underneath to catch blood as they quickly make their way to nearest sink. Soak in cold water is one of those basics we picked up early on

And having an accident prone family at the best of times - salt and cold water soak here too.
bluekarin
I didn't know about the salt trick. I usually soak the items of clothing in hot water and loads of bio washing powder for a day and then was as usual. The stain usually comes out. Not sure if that would work on denim though, and I have only used it on whites.
sparkysmum
I once had to get drops of blood out of silk. Two things worked 1) salt paste & cold water and 2) Saliva, yes, saliva applied on a cotton bud and then blotted. The saliva contains enzymes which breaks down the blood. Sounds gross, but it works, honest.

The Dogmother
It's important to use cold water with any stains, as hot water will 'set' them.
Willow
You soak your kids in cold water Not them just any items of clothing - although it's tempting I've always gone for cheap easy wash clothing so it's not a disaster if I can't get the blood out - fortunately now I have a teenager he doesn't get nose bleeds as much On a more serious note biotex is very good for getting blood stains out as well - I got my local waitrose to start stocking it for me
ubereglu
If all else fails try and get hold of some Biotex.
