Charlottechicken
Just wondering. As a lucky office worker I get three days off over Christmas and of course New Year's day, but just wondered if any of you were actually working over the Christmas holidays. BeckyBoo
Luckily I'm off Christmas Eve and Christmas Day but after that I'm on 7 days in a row, starting with 7-4 nights on Boxing Day. Actually, that's not as bad as it sounds as I'll be with the littlies all day then they're off to their Dads for a round of relative visiting for two days. Luckily I'm day shifts on New Years Eve and Day, so I get the extra money but still get to go out!! (providing I can persuade Mum to babysit!! ) BeckyBoo

bluekarin
Not working, but our YD has a weekly injection at the hospital, which is every Friday. And what day is Christmas on this year? My brother works at the Hotel Russell in London and he is luckily rostered off for Christmas.
Plum
Well I was off for once this christmas but now with sickness in the team I could be working Boxing Day. Wouldn't know what to do with myself really being at home. Anyone joining me

BeckyBoo
Have to add, this is the first year for years that I've been working day shifts (due to home circs) and I wish I'd taken some leave because I am rapidly running out of time to do anything BeckyBoo
chelsea
I've got to work between Christmas & new year (even the bank holiday). Luckily I got Christmas Eve and Boxing Day off but most of my colleagues are working every day except Christmas Day as that is the only day we don't fly. ubereglu
I am, annoyingly. I'm working on Boxing day and the Sunday too. Plus I have a huge pile of revision.
welovemarmite
i ahve taken between xmas and new year off work. I work in an office and they don't close it even though there is barely more than a handful in. It would be cheaper for them to close the office and give us the extra holiday, save on the running costs!
Beauty-Box
Im not working because I had an op on my foot for a bunion and hammer toe. I am so fed up! I'm off work until jan, but I have to wear a big shoe, have a coat hanger sticking out of the end of my toe and can't drive so I'm stuck at home. Griffin
I'm working Boxing Day from about 9.30am until 6pm but I don't really consider it a chore. I'm the deputy manager in a bookies and for me Boxing Day is all about spending the afternoon in front of the telly watching the racing while chomping on some nibbles. I had the choice of spending the day with my in-laws AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH or managing the shop. No contest! Most of the punters are absolutely lovely, it'll be nice to see them and share my mince pies and sausage rolls, watch the racing and get paid for it
Eggquisite
Planing to finish midday Xmas eve, returning 4th Jan.. after taking the few days off in between Xmas & New Year. No idea where the year has gone but desperately need a break, I thought you could start winding down in December if only!
Mrs Webmuppet
I'm off from Monday 21st until boxing day evening when I have to work nights, I normally end up working Christmas Day but I managed to get the day off!
dippy bird
I was made redundant in July so no, I'm not working over Christmas.
susanbb
I'm off from now until 5th January although I used t o do shift work and often worked nights on Christmas eve and had a power kip then got up and cooked Christmas dinner. Must admit love having the time off. DH has from Christmas eve until 28th off so even better

Christian
Working up until the 23rd then off until the new year! Annual leave and part time week, worked out perfectly this year. Have worked several times at Christmas, but nice to be off for a change
Beauty-Box
Poor you Coat hanger? Just realised how daft that sounds. It's not a coathanger, but it's about the same thickness of a metal coathanger and has a hook at the end and it's sticking out the tip of my toe, but goes down through the bone the whole length of the toe. I think the hook is so they can grab it to pull it out! Thanks for your message. dippy bird I'm sorry to read about your redundancy.
whoopsie
I'm homebirth on-call Christmas Day but only for half of it. My colleague and I decided to share the day so we can spend time with our families. The manager was most impressed with our planning!!! AJuff
I once spent from 5am Christmas morning until boxing day in labour and I felt sorry for the midwives on duty. DD celebrates her 12th birthday on 26th!!!! I finished work on Friday and return again on 4th January. Kids are back on the 12th!!! Lucky kids. OH has been called out on standby and has to go to work at lunch time Christmas day and back late 27th. He'll miss all of DD birthday.
