Alis girls
have finished my treatment today for the 2nd time in my life. Now have a retainer and will have to wear one overnight. My teeth will never be perfect due to a dentist taking out too many teeth in the 1960's but are straighter. I now want to whiten them - has anyone used any of the products you see in chemist - otherwise I will save up and get advice off my lovely dentist.? OH said with little enthuiasm " oh yes good" - I have had 18 months of mouth ulcers and discomfort and a lisp. ES was more forthcoming and said they looked great. Hes about to start his treatment. Plum
Take care with the products they could weaken your teeth as they whiten.
Alis girls
Oh right - Simon Cowells teeth might fall out or Cheryl Coles - mmmmm thinks hard and grins wickedly
Chillicat
Hi - yes have done the gel overnight in the tray. Cost lots of money and made my teeth really sensitive. With things like this it's really important to get it right and you get what you pay for. If I really wanted to do it I would go for the Zoom whitening - its quick with long lasting results.............apparently. Do lots of research before you do anything. If you get it right you may look like this !
Alis girls
Failing that I will buy some bright red lippy
Reikiranf
I've used Dr Georges whitening gel, it comes with trays that you customise easily to fit your teeth with good results and also rapid white or brilliant white are good. I use them occasionally to remove stains as I have overcrowded teeth that are a nightmare to keep clean, even with daily brushing & flossing Regarding the lippy, some shades of red can make teeth look very yellow, I tend to go for pinky lilacs as a blue red makes teeth look whiter whereas orange red accentuates yellow if you know what I mean
Lewis
Just to say good on you for getting it done My dentist had braces on at the same time as me, so we always compared teeth (well obviously she had a better look ), and hers were only on for a bit longer than mine Not sure about whitening ... I'd say ask the denstist and he/she could recommend one of the better products
Redwing
Zoom is supposed to be very good I have used the Boots £20 ish kit with good results in the past
Cinnamon
Just wanted to say well done for having the ortho work done. I had heaps done when I was a child, like you,for nasty sticky outy front teeth. I think that so many advances have been made in the orthodontics field that they could sort them out really well for me now,as they moved back quickly. But its sooooooooooooooo expensive & I am not sure I have it in me to go through it all again I know that whenever I take my girls to their appointments, the orthodontist always loks at me wisfully & says that there is much he could do to improve things for me (but at such cost!!!) The Dogmother
I get that too Sarah, but it'd be costly, so there's no way I'll get it done.
Alis girls
I wasnt Goofy - but one tooth was twisted and the other wonky. My OH siad he didnt notice it and nor did others i took out a dantal loan - i can't afford botox, face lifts etc (even if I wanted) so this was my chance to dosomething to make myself better - it wasnt plain sailing - lots of pain and discomfort. Valkyrie
My neighbour had ortho treatment recently and she has had her teeth veneered for the bigger whiter smile!
Leicester_H
I'd say ask the denstist and he/she could recommend one of the better products I'd second that. I have heard that many/most products that anyone can easily buy aren't that strong (for safety reasons) and won't give 'impressive' results. Dentists, however, are fully trained and can access more powerful products and should know what is appropriate and how successful the outcome is likely to be. Rhapsody
I had loads of dental work done this year including a Zoom whitening treatment, the result was amazing and included in the price they make trays that you can wear at home to continue whitening or top up. The top up costs £40 for 3 tubes of wondergoo, I've just done a cycle ready for the festive season see? It does make your teeth a bit sensitive but its bearable. Alis girls
MMmmm lovely - I didnt know it affected your face too I am going to speak to my dentist about whitening in the new year. I am not vain - I just wanted a descent smile and thanks to the neglience of a dentist yrs ago I was denied that - I cant even sue as hes probably dead. Thanks everyone - I have something to get my teeth into now
Rhapsody
I'd say its more about confidence than vanity- for years I've been putting my hand in front of my mouth when smiling, now I am free to beam! Like you I had a mouthful of bad dentistry and enough mercury to poison a town it did wonders for my self-image and a friend I caught up with just after the teatments were all finished asked me if I had had a facelift! My dentist normally has a January Sale on Zoom Whitening, so it might be worth your while to ask
Alis girls
Thanks I will do - I also might loose teeth as I get older due to bone shrinkage and poor dentistry. So as you say its not vanity. I cringe when I see people with teeth missing or badly shapen. I know some cant help it but it looks awful.
