Leicester_H
Hi (copying a similar topic re. sheets) just thought I'd ask this. I don't like dust so asked OH to vacuum round once a week (during the week while I'm at work.) He doesn't think it needs doing every week. I mop all the non-carpet floors, clean the kitchen THOROUGHLY, sometimes vacuum the carpets, each weekend. What do others do? H
Cinnamon
I do a major hoover every monday - I only have one room carpeted, the rest is oak boards or tiles, & then I mop too. That said,I have zero energy today so i think it will have to wait until tomorrow this week I then also do a quick go over on Friday too. I just gove it a quick whizz, don't move furtniture out the way or anything on that day.
Egluntyne
I do the whole house twice a week. The hall and what Him indoors will refer to as the back passage need doing daily really. They don't always get it. I have a houseful of menfolk who don't understand what doormats are for. Some of the rooms only get fettled by the Roomba with an ocassional 'proper' vacuuming. The place still manages to look like the Wreck of the Hesperus, whether or not I put my heart and soul into cleaning it up.
stoice
Whole house about once a week, living room - every other day. Our doggie likes to chew her rope toys or biscuits on a rug in front of the fire so there's always something to hoover up, especially if she's moulting. docsquid
Carpets upstairs once a week. Downstairs is all laminate floor. Dust this with a duster mop 2-3 times per week, and mop it once to twice a week depending on how much mud the cats have brought in on their paws. coco
Every day, it needs doing as I have two dogs that shed constantly and two cats. I think I bring a fair bit of mud in from the chickens area. upstairs gets done once a week.
Valkyrie
Once a week - doing downstairs today, Friday I did upstairs. I tend to ignore all the threads from fabric, shreddings from his lordships shredder finding their way everywhere. Although the kitchen will see more in the way of sweeping/hoovering/mopping. Unless I expect visitors and then I'll go bonkers - and as long as it starts off reasonably OK, a bomb could hit it before the visitors leave - the usual case here! Oh I do so want a roomba. kitchens
I do upstairs once a week and downstairs about 3 times a week (but only because we have a dog and he brings in 'bits' from the garden so I like to hoover them up quickly!! The Dogmother
I have builders in at the moment, so the sheer amount of dust has made me give up. I have mostly, the old Victorian floor boards, it all gets hoovered once a week and then mopped. The kitchen is always muddy and gets vacuumed and mopped about 3 times per week. ClaireG
Downstairs gets vacuumed roughly every other day. Only have carpet in the sitting room and hall though. Kitchen and bathroom floor normally gets mopped once a week. Upstairs usually vacuumed once a week.
Snowy
I do mine every year, whether it needs it or not.
Gem_Seb
Downstairs every other day, upstairs once a week. Having cream/beige carpet downstairs and 2 black cats do not make a good combination!! I give the whole house a thorough clean every sat or sunday depending what im doing! My mum gives her house a thorough clean EVERY day!! she thinks i dont do mine enough but its not possible with a full time and weekend job!! Glad to see im like most other people on here! makes me feel a lot better!!
feemcg
All wood and tiles downstairs, swept once a week (any odd wee crumb, easibed bits just use the dustpan and brush). Stairs and bedroom carpets upstairs hoovered every 2-3 weeks (I hate doing the stairs!)
Couperwife
I never vac we outsource that job to a lovely lady who comes in once a week im not posh by anymeans, but I work full time I think my spare time is better spent chilling out she is worth evey penny we spend on her (including additional eggs, or veg, or biscuits, or cakes) cathy x
Aunty e
I would do it every week, but at the moment we are still living with our vendors' choice of carpet, and it actually looks worse when it's been hoovered. Our hard floors get swept every couple of days and when I have hard stairs they get washed twice a week (only takes 5 minutes).

Helly Welly
I hoover the living room twice a week, the hall and kitchen once a week and the stairs and upstairs once a week. The hall and kitchen are vinyl flooring so they also get mopped after hoovering. OH wants me to do it more but tough, he can do it himself if he's that bothered. chelsea
I hoover the whole house every day, sometimes twice a day and I only have carpet on the stairs. Lots of rugs though. My house would be a hair fest otherwise.
miffy
gosh lots of you have non carpeted floors!!! I have tiles in bathrooms...washed & swept once a week bedrooms hoovered (mieled) once a week rest of the house, incl stairs & landing etc evry day. plain red carpet white & liver ESS..not a good combination. kitchen swept & washed 1 or 2 times a week I'm always glad to have done it when I've finished, but I hate doing it
Charlottechicken
I vacuum once a week, and have carpet everywhere except the kitchen, utility and downstairs loo. There's only me and I am very tidy, so nothing ever needs wiping up on the kitchen floor, I just have to chase the dust from under the cupboards (no kick boards) with the vacuum and it's done. No house pets either so no animal hair.
Lavenders_Blue
I hoover downstairs once a week and the main rooms upstairs once a week. We have a couple of spare bedrooms that get hoovered and dusted once in a blue moon. Kitchen and bathroom floors get hoovered and mopped once a week. Ideally the whole lot needs doing twice a week but Friday is my day off (I work Mon-Thurs) so it's just easier to save the whole lot for a Friday and I just blitz the whole house. xChicken04x
Gosh, I wish I could get away with hoovering once per week . With Zara's fur constantly shedding it needs doing at least every day, sometimes twice!
Looney
Blimey, there's a lot of hoovering going on out there! As for me, well...... ....we have carpet upstairs and it gets hoovered when I get around to it! I never have time to do all of upstairs in one go but I reckon the rooms are done once every week and a half to fortnight-ish. It also depends how much stuff there is on the floor and whether I have time to tidy up AND hoover. OH uses spare room for his various collections of stuff and it tends to be a bit of a dumping ground. Downstairs is laminate and gets swept daily (thanks to Bogwoppit distributing crumbs everywhere) and I venture under the sofa and furniture as far as I can reach but only actually move the furniture out and hoover underneath about every fortnight. I wipe the floors down regularly depending on the frequency of spillages
Plum
I'm with Snowy 'once a year' I am on my hands and knees cleaning the kitchen floor at least once a day. Does that average out any better.
