hillfamily
Well I've slept on the thought...... ........ looked again at the piccies.... .... and decided that if I ever manage to get a house with land so that I can have 4 sheep, a dexter cow, 2 horses, a donkey and lots of rescued chooks then I would definately go for the eglu cube it beats anything on the market by miles that's designed to hold 10 chooks. Sheilaz
Are you & Debs going to hold out for the mark 3 now, Dan? What do you think of it?
Sheilaz
Ooooh, I'm excited for you! ...and wondering if I could sneak one into the garden somehow....10 isn't a very big number, is it?
feemcg
No probs Dan - and you can host the launch party when yours arrives and we can all have a good poke about! (the cube that is!)
bronze
What do you reckon the rough dimensions are?
Christian
I have a space in the garden where it is going to go and my auntie is very interested in buying my mark 2 off me (although I don't think my uncle is convinced yet). If not then I will put it on eBay or hang on to it for a while. Haven't really decided yet. I just know that I want more chickens and I am ready to take delivery of a mark 3 now!!! I would hang on to the mark 2 for a while Dan, it could be used a hospital wing or nursery! I have to admit, the more I look at it, the more it is growing on me. What do you reckon the rough dimensions are? I understand that it will be in the order of 1.5m wide by either 2m or 3m long depending on the run size although I guess all the vital statistics will be confirmed anytime now in a formal Omlet newsletter. (Presumably around 02-Apr-07 if that was when the press release instructed the media to run the article).. . thats not what I wanted to hear. I could have fit that in!!! It was length that was a problem I wanted to hear it was too big and then I could go oh well it wouldnt have fit anyway
Louise
8 pages I don't have time to read all that I will have a ponder about the Mark 3 and decide whether I like it now 10 chooks my neighbours will be dead impressed
bronze
Pam I'm being cheeky now. Is there anychance you could enlarge the little inset piccies? :D
AnnieP
We have one on "back order too". OH "bought it" for me for Christmas... . Just got to firm up dates for getting it delivered and then there's another 8 or so hens coming our way!
The Dogmother
Great idea Annie Phil, being the designer he is, isn't too impressed with the styling, and immediately sat down and did a quick sketch of how he thought it should look
AnnieP
Don't you dare show Omlet Clare... we can't hold out much longer for further alterations....
susan l
Ooooooh, want one want one want one want one want one. How long will I have to work on OH to get planning permission in the back garden, I wonder.......? 10 chickens, one eglu, WOW! £450, ouch. I can dream for now..... The Dogmother
I htink that it might be more than £450 Johannes said that the price wasn't correct. I'd guess over £500, but I might be wide of the mark
Popcorn
How does that compare to a woodern ark...I can't remember the figures when we initally looked. I do remember thinking over-all the Eglu would workout cheaper due to low maintenace and longevity. That's why we went for it. And of course, you got such great customer care for first time chicken keepers and this brilliant forum as a bonus. No other company could match that. I love it. I think Kate is spot on with her description of a gyspy caravan. A bit like the one in "Danny, Champion of the World". It's very different to the original Eglu, but it has to be. It's for a totally different purpose and is also giving people an alternative choice. I think the Omlet team have designed something brilliant. Bound to get tongues wagging! theherd123
I do keep flipping back to the photos at the front for another peek! It is a grower though, quite a shock at first as its so different from the Mark 2 but i could see a pink one in the hen hotel!
hillfamily
Pam I'm being cheeky now. Is there anychance you could enlarge the little inset piccies? :D You obviously haven't heard of my very limited computer skills I've tried (really truly honest I have) but can't seem to enlarge the inset piccies - sorry (new computer and printer/scanner - amazing I can even switch the b****y thing on )
The Dogmother
Well, Phil has redesigned it - funky colour-coordinated retracting wheels, more rounded design.... He can never leave things alone

The Dogmother
I just hope that his latest invention takes off like the mark 3 should and makes him millions - I could do with being a lady of leisure
Mrs Frugal
Think about it for a minute. If the guys had made an Eglu big enough for 10 hens on the current styling, it would have been ENORMOUS and we'd never have been able to move it around, lift the top off for cleaning and it wouldn't have been practical. The new design is still very stylish and has all the things we love about our current Eglus - slide out droppings tray, easy access nest boxes, removable cover for cleaning, locking pop hole etc plus it has wheels and is raised to stop those of us with bad backs having to bend to clean it. I think it's smashing and it's still funky enough to obviously be an Eglu. Roll on Easter! PS - apologies if anyone has already said that but I couldn't wade through it all . Martin B
It's ok Kate! I completly agree with you! I want one!
Cinnamon
Sorry - going to be a grumpy knickers & say I am still not convinced on the styling at all I am looking forward to seeing better pictures of it though,or even one "in the flesh"
Martin B
Yes I can't wait to see one in the flesh. I am really looking forward to that. I think that if I was to buy one it would be in Orange!
fourfinches
I can't decide whether or not I like it! I agree with the caravan description I'd definitely like to see one up close. 10 chickens sounds great - I'm working on LSH for a couple more but not sure if I could persuade him that 7 would be a good idea.
