It's nice having some youngsters in the garden again - I'd forgotten how inquisitive and adventurous they are when young. I often see them jumping and playing in the garden while the older, sedate ones look down their beaks at them in disgust.

Today they were investigating the fence that protects them from the dogs.

Daisy and Lily tried it first - sitting on the fence, not coming over, just balancing there.

Then Marigold decided to investigate the trampoline. Daisy followed but wasn't quite so brave:

Daffodil is the scaredy cat of the gang and stays safely on the ground. I think she's supposed to be lookout but is too busy stuffing her beak:

Their combs are developing nicely and they are filling out. They will soon be laying and too grown up for silly antics

I love the way my youngsters tear from one end of the flowerbed to the other for no apparent reason . The oldies just go .

It's true what you've said about youngsters antics, although one of my Columbines Vicki never grew out of it, and she still dashes down the garden like a lunatic Grace (my very greedy Wyandotte) always thinks she's missing out on something tasty and follows her in hot pursuit. Then has a look a sheer disappointment when she realizes that Vicki hasn't found anything. What really cracks me up is that Grace never seems to learn that it's just Vicki being Vicki
