Snow

Recommended Posts

Started off quite warm, just above freezing at around 7am. Rain started around 9ish. It stopped at 12 and I popped out from work, and it started raining again at 1ish. My colleague noticed the office windows steaming up then so we knew the temperature had dropped outside. Snow started at 2.30pm and I've driven home in it, not sticking on roads and pavements as it is too wet and they are too warm! Got home to find kitchen velux windows have a nice covering of snow, not sliding down at all. Garden is also dusted well with it, and parked cars outside.

Snow overnight here  Drifted in places and it is very icy. Temperature -2c, thankfully the wind has dropped.

DDDS is outside digging away at a drift next to his car and will give me a lift to work. Emergency rucksack packed in case I have to walk home. I am supposed to be working until 5pm today as it is the staff Christmas lunch, if the snow gets worse I will leave while it is still light as I am not walking home in the dark.

Just ice in Abingdon, but I was in Birmingham yesterday afternoon when we had a blizzard for a while. Then took 6 hours to get home by train ( normally about an hour and a half) because there was a massive power failure between Oxford and Didcot! Not sure if that was weather related but very inconvenient - I think I was one of the lucky ones as I've heard worse stories than mine.

Stay safe all of you who have the really bad stuff again! :)

We've had a smattering of snow, just a powder coating really but it is bitterly cold. All the forecasts I've seen this morning have said they've 'lowered the risk of snow' for tomorrow - it was looking really problematical yesterday but now shouldn't be too bad.

It is bitterly cold here with a very fine smattering of snow on frozen ground, quite bright at the moment but with heavy clouds around too. They seem to have removed our snow risk for tomorrow for now, but North Wales has had it bad so we won't travel until Sunday. The cottage that we are going to rang up to offer us it a day early yesterday in the hope that we could come before the weather, This wouldn't have worked because the children are at school and OH is working, also we wouldn't have beaten the weather. :(
