What's everyone doing today?

Recommended Posts

Apart from eating chocolate?

As we had a roast the other day, we might go out tonight somewhere for tea. We were planning on buying 2 new bistro chairs - but B&Q are shut today.

Might do a bit of crochet, knitting & sew an owl cushion. We might also go & visit my sister & see my little nephew. No doubt he's got chocolate all round his mouth.

My youngest birthday today :D He is playing on wii with new game from his brother so I'm heading out into the garden to potter (some weeds are nearly 2 ft tall  )

He has requested making sushi today for birthday meal so we'll do that later. I ought to go bake a cake though

Went to Mass this morning - just sat out in the lovely sunshine with the children and had a (small) slice of the Easter Sponge cake that I made yesterday (mini eggs and flake sprinkled over :D ), this afternoon we're having a BBQ and hopefully this evening we are going to try out our new bistro/chimenea patio area.........a perfect day (apart from sadly losing Gladys before we went to Church this morning, the last of our orginal girls - aged 3.5 :( )

On my own today, OH and DD at a swimming competition until this evening and DS is at work. I have just made Rhubarb jam in my jam maker, not very happy about the colour of the jam it looks more like Branston Pickle :? .

This afternoon I am planning on watching the TV and eating my Easter egg :D as it is grey, dull and not very warm here. I am not even going to try and go out as the lane is very busy with folks going to the Castle to roll their Easter eggs down the hill. Cars abandoned everywhere on the single track lane, I've had to stop two cars trying to park on my drive :shameonu: .

Happy Easter every one :D

Piping hot here,& gorgeously sunny with it :P

As well as sitting in the garden,I am going to bake a cherry cake, cook a slow roast leg or lamb for supper,do about 3 tonnes of laundry & try to keep on top of the magical dishwasher which seems to always be full.

TBH I hope we don't get unexpected & unannounced visitors ( my pet hate), as I am happy having a quiet pottering day :P

so far I have: played easter bunny and hidden eggs in garden; taken one child riding; walked dog in woods; done a bit more shed/garage clearing and skip loading; picked up garden debris I had chopped down and left lying around; hung some washing out; cooked, peeled and eaten some quail eggs; chucked more salt in the pool and wondered why it is still green; read about 3 sections of the papers; spoken to my mother on the phone; had large glass of wine.

still to do: read more of papers; drink more wine; clean out cube; drink more wine; take dog for swim in sea; put cube back together; drink more wine.... :D:D

I spent a few hours in the allotment doing some heavy duty digging. Came home and sorted out the chooks (3 ages of chicks and the big girls), I've separated the washing into different piles that can be washed together (my basket was overflowing  ), I'm now stretched out on the sofa watching telly with a glass of wine :D

This morning we did a six and a half hour drive back from a gorgeous week in Dumfries and Galloway. (I say 'we' - 'we' were in the car, OH did all the driving! ). Said hello to the cats and chickens and ES who looked after house and said animals whilst we were away. Opened post, including a box containing 12 bottles of sparkling raspberry Ribena I'd won from replying to an email from Ribena. A nice surprise, it's now chilling in the fridge. Have just put 3rd load of washing in washing machine and am chilling out myself before going to inlaws for supper. Oh, and OH and myself shared a Smartie Easter egg when we got home.

Finished off the first stage of claiming back the garden. Re-treated the fencing for the girls. Still had to be cacky brown as we had a new tub (bought very cheaply) in the garage. Was hoping DH had forgotten about it but he hadn't :( Did washing and also put a lamb roast in the oven.

4 hours in the hills. Up at the crack of dawn to avoid the tourists. Saw and heard my first cuckoo, heard the first swifts and bathed in the heady scent of a field of bluebells. Wonderful morning. Then some work in the Apiary and pottered around the garden in the afternoon.

Watching "United" on the tele.( I remember the real thing :( )

Started day with choccy egg in bed whilst watching craft show on telly. Then had a crumpet & a nice coffee.

We decided to finally fit some lino in the bathroom - so that it looks good when we put our house on the market in a few months time, after we have well & truly moved properly. What should have been a little job, bended up taking a long time as we blitzed the bathroom  & hubby fixed leaky drainage pipe & drippy tap. It's perfect now & makes the bathroom look bigger with the lino down ( optical illusion).

I sorted all the eglus, cube & chicken shed out & watched them free range. I made us a nice salad lunch & boiled up 2 massive eggs to have on a bit of baguette. They were both double yolkers! I did a bit of salad with it & even cut the tomatoes fancy..sort of frilly.

This was followed by a few Thortons moments choccies together. Then we sat out in the garden - I finished my crochet squares. I just need to crochet them into the Summer flower blanket a la Attic 24. Tomorrow's job.

As I slept terrible last night, I'm over tired. So have just had a glass of Rose & we decided not to go out for tea - so we are having sausage, mash & gravy. Then I'm going bed. Funny meal times I know, but have lost total track of time today.

I stupidly suggested we go for a walk to Hale beach lighthouse on Friday which exhausted me (but it was so lovely I couldn't resist) and I'm still shattered!

So today i had to get DH to make lunch as mum was coming and we couldn't really call it off.

He roasted a chicken, made a big tomato, pasta, sweet pepper, feta cheese, 3 bean salady type thing and we had that with crusty dinner rolls followed by strudel and cream. Mum stayed for a bit and when she went home we just chilled out and drank home made sangria for the rest of the day and grazed on leftovers :D
