mischiefbec
Hi guys, Found this foorum to be a bit of a godsend to read over the last 9 days of chicken ownership. Especially as lots of the sites I seem to have found have been american ones. I just wondered if everyone on here is an eglu owner or do some people have other coop/run arrangemeents? I'm feeling a bit of a fraud really joining but we have a super-duper recycled home built coop/run, hoping that doesn't get me cast out! fluffy chick
Redwing's right there are all sorts of set ups on this forum and some of the most beautiful coops are traditional wooden coops. What works for you or me might not work for someone else. Welcome to the forum.

Mercedes55
There are other forums that are UK based where people have wooden homes, but as has already been said many people on here have traditional coops and I have to confess that I think they actually look far prettier than the plastic ones, but for us it was about having something easy to clean

Bec xxx Welcome to the forum, Bec I have an Eglu and I have a wooden coop (next week I get a WIR - "walk in run" and the coop will be placed in there, as will the Eglu "pod"). Which came first? The Eglu I got a coop when I developed Morehens disease and couldn't afford another Eglu at that point, and a second bout of Morehens disease equals the need for the WIR Where you house your chooks is not a contentious issue on here (although I was reading this morning that it can well be for some people on other sites!). Ain't Nobody Here
Welcome to the forum . As said above, all are welcome here the only stipulation being that you post photos of your chickens and your setup .
lindafw
I have a and once morehens got a grip I got a Wooden coops can deff be prettier but for me it was all about convenience so much easier to clean. So welcome...there are some lovely people on here and they give lots of good advice
Benaberry
We've got a traditional wooden coop, although after yet another battle trying to de-redmite it I'm seriously starting to ogle the Cube, for the ease of cleaning as much as anything else (helps that the WIR is nearly finished now) I do like the look of the wooden coops, although it was ultimately the cost that dictated our choice when we were setting up originally
LolaLayla
So welcome...there are some lovely people on here and they give lots of good advice I second that. When I'm in a flap about something (pardon the pun) I am on here looking for advice and I am sure people ask the same questions all the time but everyone is very patient
Space Chick
Welcome Housing is not an issue here as others have said Me, I have a cube and an eglu but don't use the runs... I have 2 WIRs... I also have other housing options too
Sammiboo
just to concur what everyone else as said. House isnt an issue, the most common interest on here is the chooks more than the eglus I think if i had gone with a wooden house i would have still come on here. Nicest chicken friendly forum i have used
sjp
I've got 4 homemade coops and runs 3 wood 1 plastic clad plus 1 ready made brought in wooden house that I needed in a hurry due to an unexpected broody and no were to put her

vickichicky
I started off with a wooden house when I came on here needing advice about a Lash (thought my girl had passed intestines and was panicking somewhat!). Also had been battleing red mite for a year - so after reading on here the virtues of a I bought a second hand one from the Omlet marketplace. Now I have both in a WIR after leaving the wooden one empty for 6 months & painting it 3 times over with creosote. The 'chicks' are in that one now, but at 15 weeks, I cannot really call them that anymore!!! I love the look of some wooden ones (not mine particularly) but I LOVE the user friendliness of the cube. The droppings trays are a godsend and the red mite were banished!
Lavenders_Blue
I'm a wooden coop owner. I have always been made very welcome on this forum. Obviously the the majority of people on here have Eglus/Cubes but are very welcoming of us who have wooden housing. We're all more interested in sharing stories and photos to be honest than worrying about what type of housing people have chosen
Henergy
I started off being a wooden coop owner & everyone was so friendly. I have dipped my toe into other forums but keep coming back here. Beware though, there is a really bad bout of Morehens Disease on here at present .....extremely contagious Would love to see photos of your set up x
Green Tea
Welcome I have two wooden coops, neither of which have runs as my hens free-range. I also have two coops and a small run built into/onto my shed for poorly birds, chicks, broody etc I think wooden coops are probably a bit harder work but have to say I prefer the look of them, my sister has an Eglu and I'm not a fan. Sarah ...skulks away quietly
lindafw
I am beginning to think there is a market for pretty wooden flats...(the flat scenery you get on a stage) of houses with doors at eglu height . We could just stand them infront of our classics and cubes and change them when we felt like it
Mr Rhode Island Red
"Ooops, word censored!"ody here is treated differently on here depending on your choice of chicken accomodation Everyone is welcome Mr Rhode Island Red Who doesn't own an Eglu either
majuka
I have a wooden ark but I do like the eglus and particularly the cube.
