HarrisonFamily
I would not recommend wellibobs.....I spent £30 on a pair and they were really comfortable but did not even last over one summer......
earthmam1
My hunters lasted approx 9 months before they split (shop said they are now made in china and they have had a lot of compaints of them splitting). Have now got agilie (something like that spelling) and love them. More expensive than Hunters and not bright colours but oh so comfortable and warm
abwsco
Muckboots for me.
Lavenders_Blue
I bought Joules wellies last year, they were really comfortable but split quite quickly. I have bought Hunter wellies this year and am very pleased with them so far - they do look to be more well made than the Joules wellies. Re socks, there is a shop near us selling alpaca wool goods. I wear alpaca socks over my regular socks and they keep my feet really toasty warm. Two pairs of alpaca socks if it gets really cold! Eggasperated
This is the first year I have tried Muck Boots and I'm really pleased with them so far, but for some gardening I use steel toe capped boots which never seem to be comfortable. Peaches
Muck boots here too. I use them a lot for walking the dogs as well as around the garden.
The Dogmother
I have two pairs; muck boots for the warmth, especially good when walking the dog. And regular wellies (Lowthers) for waterproof-ness.
loumabel
Ive got Tom Joules ones, blue with chickens on!! Ive had them a year and they are used everyday for chicken, sheep and dog duties and havent leaked yet. I use cotton traders welly socks and they are brilliant but you do need a size bigger welly to accomodate them.
yvonne
Another MuckBoots fan here, after looking at forum recommendations a couple of years ago. There are quite a few styles from ultra rugged to more lightweight and they are SOOOO warm (neoprene lined)- long dog walks in ice & snow are no problem, also a lot cheaper than most lined boots and way better than any socks I have ever tried. (Bit too warm for summer use though)
sparkysmum
I also have muck boots for winter but they are huge and have to wear at least two pairs of socks. Purple Hunters for the rest of the year. Love them.
miffy
I love my ladies Hunters, had them 4 years so far. I must say though if money is no object I would seriously consider Muckboots to replace them.
Lesley
Carl's Muckboots haven't even lasted a year before splitting
abwsco
Carl's Muckboots haven't even lasted a year before splitting Lesley, I'm sure they should replace them foc if you quote the "fit for purpose" thingy at them.

I'm still waiting for Carl to dig out the receipt - it's in the farm accounts but it's a bit like cobblers children here - our accounts always come last
sadietoo
Another vote for Muckboots here too...never have I had such toasty feet!
The Dogmother
That's bad Lesley - they're supposed to be very hard wearing. I wear mine every day in the winter, do lots of walking in them, wore them through the snow last year (with my Yaktrax) and they are still going strong. Hens@HalfMoonLane
If cost is not an issue le chameau outlast are the best boots I've ever had, Seeland do a cheaper version, both have vibram soles. I'd recommend either for a good pair of warm Welles.
Chortle Chook
If cost is not an issue le chameau outlast are the best boots I've ever had, Seeland do a cheaper version, both have vibram soles. I'd recommend either for a good pair of warm Welles. A vote for Le Chameau here too. I had Hunters for years and years but suddenly they started splitting and would hardly last a year so after going through two pairs in quick succession, I made the switch about three years ago to Le Chameau and still have the pair I switched to. I wear them day in day out for dog walking - walking in mud, fording streams, walking along pavements, you name it. They are also kept outside, in a wooden fruit box turned up on its end so the rain does not get in but are otherwise open to all weathers. Just resurrecting an old thread in case the info is of use to anyone. My Hunter wellies have died I only bought them in August - two days ago I got a soaking wet foot where the sole had split right across the bottom. Not nice! They appear to have a 1 year guarantee so I'm hoping I can get my money back. Having had a poke around on the internet this actually seems to be quite a common problem, so I definitely don't want a replacement pair. In the meantime, I've ordered a pair of Muck Boots in the hope that they will last me longer than the pathetic 6 months the Hunter boots lasted! donald
I would buy some ie £12 3/4 calf wellies. I have spent a fortune on expensive boots etc and end up buying some of the 3/4 they are comfy and when they get woren out I just get another pair. I use mine all the time for horses I ride in them etc etc. Hunters have got a posh name but they do have a reputation for splitting. I had a nice comfy pair of muck boots again 3/4 which were really comfy cost about £40 but the soles were not very pronounced and on a wet surface it was like walking on ice! They had strectchy tops for my fat calfs. But my relative likes her full ones for walking etc but they have normal welly soles. I would invest in some nice socks to line them instead of wasting money on expensive ones ie get some ski socks for warmth etc.
The Dogmother
I can't say that I've ever had any problems with muck boots, and the girls at the local supplier have them too; they wear them all day, every day in the winter. Sadly Hunter boots seem to have become fashion items instead of good, strong utility boots as they once were.
lillybettybabs
Aigle Parcours Iso, I have had mind for 4 years now and they are worn everyday and do at lest 20 miles a week and still in good nick!
