Were you on TV Fred?!

Recommended Posts

I didn't watch it  My Son in law cycles up to his work in London and home again and I worry enough already :(

For that reason I hope my mum didn't watch it. My brother lives in London and cycles to and from work. He has already been knocked off his bike and had a broken cheekbone from a hit and run driver who pulled out of a junction he was cycling past without looking

I must confess I nearly hit a cyclist this morning. It was 7am dark & icy, I was indicating to come off a roundabout when just out the corner of my eye I saw the idiot. He didn't even look, just straight infront of me & across the lanes, no lights dressed in dark clothes & big headphones on.

I was driving along this evening and a brightly coloured cyclist was was next to me shouting. "Oh no!" I thought.

"What have I done?"

I'd driven at the speed limit and given him plenty of space (he actually had the whole bus lane). As we slowed down at traffic lights, the cyclist got off his bike, still shouting and by now gesticulating madly. :?

With relief, I realised that his anger was directed at a van in the next lane to me. :anxious: Not sure what happened, but I didn't do it!

Can definitely see the need for people to be more aware of cyclists, but some of them are so hard to see!

I've recorded it but haven't watched it yet.

I cycle to work when I work in the Swansea office (7 miles away) which tends to be a day or two a week.

On Weds, I had a few scary incidents on my cycle home!! Cycling past a junction and a driver pulled out the the side road without looking thankfully I noticed what he was doing and managed to swerve and avoid him... then 2 miles down the road I was crossing a roundabout and a van cut lanes, without indicating and turned down the turnoff I was cycling past, only just missed me

I should add I have my lights on, I swear a bright pink cycling jacket with reflective strips and my helmet also has reflective strips!!

The vast majority of my ride is cycle paths, however, the bits that are road can get rather hairy at times :anxious:

Is it me, or are other road users noticing an increase in cyclists without lights on when riding in the dark - I noticed a chap (at the last minute yesterday) who was cycling in dark clothing, no lights - it was dark - (or helmet) oh yes and he was on the wrong side of the road  On the whole, I think cyclists are great and I admire them for not using their cars, but I could get very cross with those without lights. :anxious:

Phil often cycles around London; it worries me.

Why? If you dont act like a tool and obey the law, it's very safe.

He's very sensible Fred; it's the other eejits in cars that worry me.

I stopped cycling places after some blokes in a van tried to run me off the road; they thought it was very funny  I called the police. :D
