This Santa is having a mind blank, I have bought a box of dairy milk in a milk carton shaped box and a led tree for yd's dolls house, will be getting tattoo sleeves for ds and a big bang theory wrist and for ed, But apart from that, I just can't think. Any suggestions would be wonderful thank you My teens are 13, 14 and 15.

bluekarin
I always found it easy when they were little but it's help with teens that's needed

skillick
My girls are in their early 20s now and still have stockings. There are always socks, bubbles, chocolate coins, and often body spray, batteries (always useful for something on Christmas day) and pocket size tissues or baby wipes. Nowadays they have pants and socks....chocolate, lynx, hair gel, satsumas, gloves, pringles, a couple of paperbacks....one has a roled up copy of NME and they usually have a pineapple in the top (this year they aren`t having pineapples as I have bought them a wenlock and mandeville toy each off of ebay )
patsylabrador
I made 'stockings' for all the ladies in OH's family including MIL. They are in fact knitted bags but the principle is the same. I've filled them with children's party bag toys. Bouncy balls, punch balloons, bubbles, slinkys, lots of bits like that. I think adults often have more fun with children's toys than children. I hope I'm right and they don't just think it's a weird present. I knitted a stocking for ES's girlfriend and filled it with little presents to open on Christmas morning, small Christmassy candles, soaps and some of the party bag toys. She will be back home in Hong Kong on Christmas Day and although she liked the gift and appreciated that I'd made it for her she asked ES when they were alone why I had put her gift in a sock. It hadn't occurred to me that anyone didn't know the tradition.
counturchickens
I do stocking for my sister, her husband and mine. Chocolates, smellies, costume jewellery for my sis. They always love them!
Lavenders_Blue
30 years old and I still get a stocking! Hubby usually puts little bits like nail files, funky socks, choc coins etc in it. Usually the best pressie of the day!
craftyhunnypie
Me & Hubby still do stockings. Mine is a pink one with a poity toe & stilletto type heel. It is really tacky - ha ha! His is more refined, red with a reindeer. I always have to get him some Cadbury's chocolate buttons, as since he was little it's been tradition that he eats them whilst opening his prezzies. He usually gets a few bits like , Xmas socks, miniature bottles of booze, little torch etc. It is much easier for the females... body sprays, mini boxes of chocs, nail files, nail polish, nail stickers, glitter eye liners, mini perfumes, hair accessories, mini hairbrushes, mirrors, girly mug, handbag charms, earrings & jewellery, gloves, pants, purses, mini cross stitch kits, ball of wool & needles - book on cupcakes etc etc. A lot can be found at £1 land, 99p stores, Savers, Superdrug, Claires & The Works! Cinnamon
I LOVE doing stocking for my daughters aged 19 & 17 - & they say it is the best bit of the day opening them. I tend to collect bits & pieces throughout the year,so I have some gold coins from when I went to Choccwoccydoodah in the summer,a few bits I found in Cornwall this autumn & so forth. There are always plenty of pairs of cute/funny knickers, nail varnishes, earrings, socks, silly bits I know they will love. I got them each a cocktail shaker with bits in to make cocktails from M&S this year too, Mojito for one & Cosmo for the other. I ALWAYS buy too much, but their birthdays are in early spring so I can roll some of the bits over until then if the stockings are too stuffed! craftyhunnypie
You're a lovely mum Cinnamon. Wish I was your daughter! It is just a bit of fun & it's funny how such little things give lots of pleasure! Emma.x
bluekarin
I agree Emma. I think I enjoy them getting the stockings more than their actual pressies. I think it's because there is an expectation for what they get under the tree. Whereas the stocking is just for fun and it doesn't matter that it isn't what they wanted. For my three they have Dairy milk chops in a milk carton, will have a drink each which is usually milkshake but might be Mountain Dew this year, a giant candy cane from Tesco, book or comic each but prob a book as they are almost the same price! Xmas socks, choc money and small smellies. I have got yd a led tree for her dolls house, a Big Bang theory wristband for ed and will get some tattoo sleeves for ds. I was after something's fun for them, a bit unusual to go in there as well. I know, nothing like leaving it till the last min Ps Can I have one of your stockings Sarah? Ooer, that sounds a bit wrong
Margaret
Yes, I still do stockings for my children, 32, 30 and 26 plus 18 month old grandson and all their partners. Every year I say to youngest daughter, that I am not going to do them this year, but she always says its not Fair Bens had one for the last 32 years so must She. So how do you stop?? Daughter says its the best present anyway, do cost rather a lot more than when they were tiny though. They still have colouring pencils and colouring book.. Also chocolate coins, small babychampe, plus nice candles from M&S and other bits, also I have to still put them on the ends of there beds so as they go to bed in the wee small hours I have to remember to do it when I go for one of my menopausal wee's
SarahJo
Stockings are the best bit - my Dad was a pilot in the RAF, so when I was little they used to make them up well in advance and let us hang "the other flying sock" over our beds. I always wondered how I never saw Father Christmas or heard him, as it was obviously a quick swap Loved moving my legs in anticipation of the full stocking at the end of the bed My OH and I do for each other, and Mrs Claus does the boys - great for swim related bits, like goggle straps, mesh bags etc. They also get hand warmers, smellies, choc, satsuma, lego model (star wars planet this year) things like that now they are a bit older. No doubt this will soon be miniatures, hair styling products etc before too long Only seemed like yesterday it was little soft telletubbies and thomas tank engine models

Not that my comment is helipng you with what to put in yours , allthough if you have a hawkins Bizare nearby they have loads of bits and bobs some retro etc some just complete trash but usually something for everyone at varios prices
Christian
I miss getting a stocking Used to be the best part of Christmas I do make stockings for my Niece and Nephew now though.....
PurpleTree
I've never had a Christmas stocking done for me I do stockings for my boys though, this year they've got chocolate coins, a little smarties penguin that had smarties inside, toothbrush (for after all the chocolate ), one of those pens that has 4 different colours, erm can't think what else. I've got them a Christmas colouring book set each too but that won't fit in their stockings. We're away at hubbys parents for Christmas so can't take all the kids presents with us. Will just be taking their stockings, then we're going to have 2nd Christmas when we come home
Chickendoodle
I still do my 2 girls a stocking even though they are now 25 and 27! It invariably ends up costing me a furtune as I refuse to put rubbish in just for them to throw away. This year they have (as far as I can remember) Pack of socks (Always at the bottom of the stocking) Nail varnish - 4 each in various colours handbag sized hand creams little box of truffles tree deoration pen bracelet lip gloss I am sure there are other little things but I cant remember any more. I really enjoy finding the stuff and they always sit down together to open their stockings, making sure that they open the same shaped ones at the same time
CatieB
You have inspired me. I'm going to do one for my son for the first time. We never had stockings as a child. Silly question, does the child find it next to their sack? And open them at the same time?
bluekarin
Usually you hang them on the ends of their beds, empty when they go to bed and fill them when they are asleep. We now hang ours on the mantle shelf in the loving room as Santa can no longer sneak into their room at night It depends when you let them open their presents. Ours are allowed to open their stockings when they wake - one year this was 4 am - but they aren't allowed to open their main presents until we are all up and had breakfast. How old is your son? I think he will love it and glad we have all inspired you to do this
Purplemaniacs
Stockings go by the fireplace and are opened when everyone is up. We don't have our main presents until the afternoon. We love it like that as the cooking is done and we or should that be I can enjoy the opening too. Chrissie
Ms Marple
Yup I still do stockings and my boys are 20 and 24. Same comments- best pressie etc. Costa cards or similar, little gizmos of various sorts, chocolate, bottle of beer, jerk sauce, post it notes, nice man type grooming stuff- daft stuff that they like really. Never stuff that they would throw away though! This year one of them has a case that will charge his phone on the go and the other has some mini wifi speakers for his ipad. Would like to do nail varnish but not sure that it would go down too well! In fact this year YS has a jar of pickles to take back to uni! Best stocking I ever did was a Christmas when my parents were living in Australia but home every year at Christmas. I invited my Grandad to stay with us too. He was 82 It was the year before he died. I did stockings for everyone. Grandad took ages to open his and was so excited and was adamant that he had NEVER had a stocking. I was so proud OH and I do them for ourselves too. I used to put them at the end of their beds but now downstairs by fireplace so we see them opening them - that is the best bit for me really. PurpleTree
My boys stockings are hung on the fireplace, they are part of the decorations when the tree goes up They can open them as soon as they get up, I usually put a few colouring things in that will keep them busy. Usually we go to church then they have the rest of their presents in a sack when we come home - we cook for teatime. This year not sure what is happening as we're staying with the inlaws. We're taking their stockings with us for them to put somewhere on Christmas Eve, maybe under the tree as they don't have a fireplace. They'll be able to open the when they get up, but don't know when we'll do other presents.
Seagazer
My 'kids' 25, 21 and 15 have their stockings hanging on their door handles so we don't have to go into the room. It used to freak them out the thought of Father Christmas wandering around their bedrooms. It also means that they can open them up before we 'have' to get up. The kids have got some toiletries, puzzles and little funny books, sweets etc and always, always a pair of slipper socks.
